Can a tablet fullfill my needs?

Hey guys I need a computer for college and I'm not satisfied with what is available. Battery lives are medicore and I hate windows 8.

I'm thinking of just getting a nook hd plus because it has a nice screen and long battery life. I am new to android so do you think I could download torrents (mainly ebooks and pdfs) and do general wordprossesing and web stuff if I get a keyboard? Would I run into problems while trying to print things out?

Basically I could just spend $150 plus a $30 keyboard to get a nice machine, would it work for me? Can anyone recommend good apps for wordprocessing/torrenting/music/pdf viewing?

Don't do it, get a cheap used Thinkpad with a linux distro or win7 for the same price and have SOOOOOO much more functionality for your money

I have an x41 that Im going to repair but it isn't necessarily that great for wordprocessing to begin with.

Man, that X41 is going to be so much better for WP then a Nook

(what are you doing at college?)

im doing engineering so all i need to do is pirate books and do a spreadsheet in excel everyonce in awhile.

I can totally see where you are coming from, especially from an engineering standpoint, I use one in my workshop all the time for downloading and referencing data sheets for various components. But, i also think its really easy to hype up in your own mind the true usefulness of a tablet until you have used one hands on and come across the limitation first hand.....or if the Nook HD is the best of the bunch.

But here are the apps you will want.

tTorrent Lite - Torrent Client

OfficeSuite Pro 7 or Office Mobile

Engineering Equations

Engineering Handbook Lite

Engineering Dictionary

EveryCircuit and SEE Electrical Calculator (if you're doing any electronics)
