Call me crazy, but I think this might be a half-decent idea

Not sure if this is in the right topic but...

Recently the release of the Alienware 15 laptop has got me thinking. At the moment, I have an Asus G550JK laptop with a 500GB SSD in it as well as a gaming desktop (specs are on my profile). Now, my idea that, since the Alienware graphics amplifier exists, I sell my laptop as well as my desktop and purchase an Alienware 15 laptop as well as the graphics amplifier with a GTX 970 Strix or something along those lines. Overall, I think that that option will give me more performance in games than my current setup and be easier for me as I can just manage having data on one single computer rather than shifting between my laptop and desktop. It's also convenient to just come home, plug the laptop into the graphics amplifier, and be set to go.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

I'd stick with your current setup. If your laptop or desktop fails for some reason, you've got a backup. With that Alienware solution you're screwed if it goes wrong.

Edit: Also, YOU'RE CRAZY!

I guess I'd be screwed but it still seems like a half decent option :D

Just use something to sync all your data? Like Bittorent Sync maybe?

Crazy,

Alienware craftsmanship is kind of poo. I have a older M14x that degraded heavily after the first few months, and I'm very careful with PC's, I didn't bump it or anything like that. Small things just started to fail, got a few BSOD's, one just after purchasing. I wouldn't recommend the jump although maybe with that technology we will see a more reputable manufacturers creating similar products.
