Hey Guys,

I became a Mac user two years ago and have regretted it in many ways since, I'm currently running a 2011 MBA with a 27" Thuderbolt display.  I underpowered. I need a serious Upgrade.

I don't want to ditch the Thunderbolt display, it's good enough for me, but i need one hell of a lot more power when it comes to running motion simulatons and fluid dynamics. My Dad likes Mac and was pushing for me to get a base Mac Pro.  I watched your video, it's not for me.

What should I get? I'll want a motherboard with a Thunderbolt socket nd the ability to map the GPUs through the motherboard to the thunderbolt port, but that's where my knowledge ends. i'm happy to mess around with software to get the gpus through the thunderbolt. I was wondering about a gamng rig so I can ditch myXBOX too? I'll probably hook it up to another display for that.

Cheers guys,

Simon Hills

Something like this might be up your ally:

Although  I don't know if the GPU can be pushed thru this though. Sorry.  :(

Good Luck!

I'm looking for an entire machine, not just anexpansion card. This will not go in a MacBook Air.

What's your budget?

Basically a baseline Mac Pro +/- £500 so £2500

Here you have an aaprox. idea of a powerful pc, take accaount that this is spain prices, it should be a little more expensive un the uk, but dont really know

If you're planning to build this yourself, you might want to try and post in the "Build a PC" section as well.

With 2.5k, you can get a pretty decent rig.

That's ~4k USD btw. Should be able to build an amazing rig ;)

even an overkill one, but the question is what he needs, his budget is from 500 to 2500!!! thats a wide range of budget

No, his budged is 2500 +/- 500 pounds, so from 2000 to 3000 pounds.

...holy crap...

that is 4k USD whenn you convert it using the exchange rate, but in the UK pc parts cost almost the same amount in numerical value, but in pounds. For example, if a GPU costs $300 in the US, in the UK it cost 280 GBP. It's more equivalent to a 3k USD PC

sh*t I got that wrong! my english its so bad sometimes....

Last time I messed with one the thunderbolt displays didn't work with anything but a new mac, but with your budget you can build a beefy modern system and grab a shimian 27" 1440p monitor which is the same screen in a cheep enclosure at a cheaper price.

Off the shelf suggestions?
Jethro, good idea, I'll have a look into that.

No?
