Caching Web Data....? Pfsense

So after watching Logans video on pfsense i went crazy trying to make a box, spent a couple of days downloading versions, trying to format usb's blah blah etc, installs freeze at 36% errors, all sorts of things. Decided just to set it back to a windows file storage comuter.

The main reason i got all excited was the comment about being able to cache website data so that pages load faster. internet cap is not a problem for me, but speed is! my average currently (untill our exchange is upgraded next year) is about .8 - 1.2Mbs :/

I have spent a bit of time trying to google other ways of 'caching' web data but everytihng seems only to be about adjusting browser cahce or how not to use so much internet cap. neither of which i really care about. i have a custom cache setting in firefox for 2gb, hoping it would store extra data for websites i visit alot, even just the background image etc, didnt notice a thing.

Can anyone help me at all with this..?

is there any other way, or do i need to go and find some old parts online and try and build this elusive pfsense box...?

Thanks

If you're only concern is caching, you could always try a linux squid server build. The Ubuntu distro is free, http://www.ubuntu.com/download/server. Installation is fairly simple, there are a few video's on the youtubes and plenty source material online to help navigate the server configuration.

thanks, will look into that :D
