This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://teksyndicate.com/videos/byrobot-quadrotor-multiplayer-toy

If you are looking for a good trainer quad the Estes Proto X is excellent. They are really durable and cheap ($30 retail). As far as flying them, they are extremely responsive. Barnacules did a video on it a while back if anyone is interested.

Would there be a chance of getting some sort of video out to a PC live while it is flying. You could have some real fun with first person flying with these. Especially with the size you would first person race then indoors like an office. Another job for the firmware hacking? or would that be more along the lines of a new part to attach. Could be really fun, I might get one just because they are cheap enough.

If you're looking to get a nice quadcopter to carry a gopro or something, I recommend the FliteTest electrohub. It's a nice DIY quadcopter and there's a power pack available.

This micro FPV system may work. Horizon hobby uses it on one of their micro quadcopters. It's expensive, but you get video goggles, a nice radio link, and you can easily swap it from one vehicle to another.
