Buying parts today/ tomorrow

Hello, so im planning to buy my parts very soon and im at a impass. I will list three builds i really want opinions on which one you think would fit my needs better. I will be using a 1080p 144hz monitor and playing games like far cry, skyrim, crysis 3, crysis 2, Bioshock, ETC I would love any advice as im going to be buying very soon.

Budget: Cannot go over 1850 including taxs and shipping.

Notes - If i go with the build that contains a gtx 760 I will be grabbing another and going SLI in the near future.

- If i go with the gtx 780 i will get a SSD later. (Probably a 256gb)

Thanks!

I would just use the i5 in all your configurations. The i7 doesn't really offer anything additional in gaming performance.

You don't really need the 4GB model of the 760, 2GB will be fine.

That's just a couple of pointers to save money. But, spend on whatever you're happiest with.

If I had to make a choice on these builds, I'd probably go with the 7970 build. Try and find a vendor that is still offering the Never Settle bundle. It includes some of the games you want to play.

Get the 780, you can live without an SSD for a little while.

Thanks, yes the never settle bundle would come with the 7970. I was only putting in the i7 because it seems to out preform the i5 in crysis 3 and some other games.

I was edging towards that. The 780 ACX overclocked is not currently available. Would getting a 780 with stock cooling and clock stock be a large preformance hit?

If you feel it warrants the extra cost, go for it. I actually grabbed an i7 for myself. I had the notion that I was going to get into editting more than I have committed to at this time, which is unfortunate. It's there if I need it, less to worry about.

I actually picked the stock cooler over the EVGA aftermarket. I think the Titan cooler looks sexy.

And if my stock 780 can max any game at 1440p, including Metro 2033, I think you'll be able to sleep at night.

I did the same thing with my 780 (got it yesturday), it is such a beast and look oh so sexy. Go with the 780 if you can afford it, you wont regret it.

oh ps, the performance difference (from what I can tell at the moment) between the acx cooler OC and completly stock cards is a couple of FPS, if Logan's tests are anything to go by then the acx cooler will a little more headroom to OC but honestly i think that if you wanted to OC these to any signigicant degree you would buy a waterblock to keep the thing frosty.

It is a difference of few FPS, for a lot more cost. Some people are prepared to pay it, I'm not.

do you mean the ACX cooler costs more or the waterblock? I know the evga card with the waterblock is ridiculously expensive.

You can buy the waterblock seperate for about USD130 which ill do later i think.

I would say go with the 7970 there so cheap nowadays.

Well i just got notified that the ACX superclocked 780 is back in stock and its $10 cheaper than buying a stock 780. Should i go with it?

Well obviously, its cheaper and has better preformance.

Im pretty sure im going with the 780, i have a friend who may be able to give me ram/ a case. Ill be ordering parts after i talk to him. I was probably going to spend around $270 on a 1080p 144hz monitor. Does it make fore sense to get something like this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-QNIX-QX2710-LED-Evolution-27-2560x1440-WQHD-PLS-Computer-Monitor-Matte-/121117252582?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item1c33269be6

Quite a lot of people are buying 1440p monitors from South Korea. There is a large selection of different panels for a decent price. You could make a new forum thread to get further information.

I believe Brennan bought a 1440p from Korea. Might be worth asking him.

You should probably pay the extra cost to have a monitor that is certified "pixel perfect".

Some of the pixel perfect ones only seem to cost $10-20 more, i really like the looks of this one though.

Or if i wanted pixel perfect i could get something like this:

Up to you, man. Like I said, I'm not the person to ask about those panels. There's a pretty wide selection of IPS panels from Korea. You can spend all day looking through search results. Someone will probably have a reputable vendor that they can recommend for you.

I ordered my parts, I will let you guys know how it turns out.

Do they send you a dvd to install windows 8. Or....? I have never built a computer from scratch before XD

P.S. I ordered these parts: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1eZNn
