Buying my video card tomorrow....stuck on which one to get

Here are the video cards i'm looking at right now:

Now....as for the games that come with each video card....I already own Assassins Creed 3 on my Xbox (birthday gift) and I own the original Borderlands on Steam and I had a hard time getting into it because I had nobody to play it with...and I would be in the same situation for Borderlands 2. The AMD card comes with Far Cry 3, Sleeping Dogs, and Hitman: Absolution. All of those games I have never played before and I really want them all. So as for the games....the AMD card wins.

And here's where I am having trouble....performance. Basically....does a 7970 out perform a 670? This is mainly for gaming.

ah, choices choices. 7970 has one more GB of VRAM than the 670 and only 10 bucks more but the Cuda cores do come in handy when rendering

well considering the 7970 and the 680 are pretty close then the 670 will be slower than the 7970 for gaming

Both are great choices.  Knowing that you will not find yourself struggling to reach a desireable quality at very playable framerates with either card, and that the 7970 will come bundled with some AAA titles you will be enjoying, it will be the better choice for you.

If you want the extra handful of points in your bench scores, you're better off looking at some other bench scores to make your decision.  But you'll be kicking yourself later when you're paying $60/game for those same games.

Again, I WON'T be doing any video editing or anything like that....this is for a computer meant just for gaming (and the occasional school projects of course). So with that being said....would CUDA make much of a difference?

CUDA makes no difference. It only is overly supported in Adobe products. Physix does add to some games. Depends what games are your favorites.

get the 7970. CUDA is not at all meant for, or even useful for games. plus you get the 3 freebies

+1 for 7970

free games that add value or cashback if you sell them for a card that ends up costing less and performs similarily.
