[Buying] Gaming mouse - R.A.T 7

Hi guys. Trying to buy a goood mouse. I really like the rat 7 because it's wired and it has the pinky spot cause i like to have a good grip on the mouse when i'm using them.

other suggestions would be accepted too.

I had a RAT 7 for a year and hated that thing, the twin eye laser is stupid sensitive and any (and I mean ANY) dust gets within a mile of it it will flip out, also don't try listenint to dubstep over your speakers while using it.

I would take a look at the CM Storm Spawn, it's a flawless sensor mouse and while it doesn't have the pinkie rest is has a ring finger rest so the pinkie it grabbing the edge.

Razer imperator all the way, the RAT is hipster garbage

Razer uses cheap switches in their mice, so the chance of it shitting out within a year are high.

If I were you I'd check out the Zowie mice.  Best switches, the EC1 eVo kinda has the shape of the Deathadder, and has the highest quality sensor you can get (at least for FPS gaming)

I prefer my current Zowie EC1 eVo to all these mice that I've owned in the past (and yes, I bought them all, so no b.s. here):

- Razer Deathadder (owned 2, left click shit out within 2 years on one, 6 months on the 2nd one)

- Razer Lachesis (owned 1, sensor failed after 1.5 years)

- Logitech G9x (owned 1, my 2nd favorite mouse after the Zowie.  Would suggest it, but the left click also failed after about 2 years)

I take care of my mice too.  I never abuse them in any way, so any problems I've had with them are 100% manufacturing faults.  Or just the lack of care on their part...*cough* razer *cough*

And not trying to hate 100% on Razer, their mice just suck.  I own a pair of their Orca headphones and I love them.

anything is better than a RAT, I just suggested the imperater due to its high specs and that I use one, cudos to my friends at Tek syndicat btw

If you want to get a new mouse, I would recommend a steelseires kana. It is affordable, and has very good performance for everyday use and gaming

I've owned a rat 7 for about 10 months now, and I love the absolute shit out of it. It's of very high build quality, and hasn't let me down for an instant. I don't find the "precision button" very useful, but that's preference I suppose. The keys are fully programmable, and you can do just about anything with it. I currently have the thumb scroller controlling volume.

Before the RAT, I owned a razer death adder, and it was nice while it worked. After a few months, the scroll wheel would stick and would register for no reason. I was then gifted a razer naga epic for xmas, and it was not my favorite thing ever. the build quality was sketchy, and it was way to small for my hand. The numpad on the side (yes, numpad. 12 buttons.), is so small, that you have to have a crazy small thumb in order to make any kind of use of it. After a day and a half, the lighting stopped working. So I traded it in for a RAT 7, and got 30 dollars back. As for other razer mice, I can't say, because I've not had the chance to try them.

My favorite thing about the Rat, though, has to be the fact that the adjustable palm rest allows the mouse to become long enough for my big-ass hands.

That said, the RAT is very expensive, but if you are willing to put up the money, I highly suggest at least taking a look at it.

As far as other brands go, I've heard good things about steelseries and logitech mice (logitech G9x, and g500 especially).

Get something off of there

+1

you can not go wrong with the Steelseries KANA

i have owned a Steelseries ikari / kinzu / sensie / Razer Deathadder

most of them had some bugs .. but the kana is just amazing ... go with the white edition .. its sexy ;D

I'll be honest Scraps, you shouldn't be listening to dubstep anyways, don't blame the mouse.

Since this is turning into a "Buy the mouse I own" thread, I thought I'd throw it out there that often times any jittering issues with a mouse can often be remedied by using a hard mousepad instead of a clothe one, also occasionally whiping the dust off the bottom of the mouse is good practice.

I only know one person with a RAT 7 and he seems to enjoy it, hasn't mentioned any problems.

Here is something you guys forgot, the most important thing when buying a gaming mouse is the shape, you can have a 8600dpi dual laser gaming mouse with 2000hz polling rate (i know this doenst exists im just giving an example) and the mouse has a terrible shape in your opinion, if the mouse´s shape doesnt suit you, than it wont work,so dont buy a gaming mouse because of the specs but because of the shape,in my case i own a Razer DeathAdder because i really like its shape, and for me it suits me best than the Razer Imperator or Razer Naga because in my opinion the DA´s shape suits me.think about it,why do pro cs players still use a Intellimouse 3.0? now about the RAT 7 i really like the fact that you can change the gaming mouse to suit your grip style, but the older RAT 7 used a Philips Twin Eye a sensor known for z-axis problems and some jittering, however there is a new RAT 7 out there with a new sensor,im not sure if it is the philips twin eye.

I have a RAT 9 so far it has been pretty decent however its rather uncomfortable to use for extended periods. I would recommend getting something else i have heard pretty much universal appraise for the Razer Death Adder.

I have a Rat 7 MMO and its terrible.

It often just stops tracking the X or Y axis so the cursor is only tracking one and not the other, and the only way to fix it is to lift the thing off its surface for a second then put it back down and wait up to 3 seconds for it to resync! its horrible.

I've wanted to throw the bloody thing out the window numerous times.

I'm going back to my Roccat mouse, my Kone[+] was awesome.

I'm just waiting to see what the Kone Pure and Kone XTD are like.

Edit:

Also the customizing of the mouse is really not what its hyped to be, the only useful change you can make is wether or not you want a pinky rest.

The mouse is not very tall and you will find you need to grip it more to keep it under control, its really not very ergronomic for hours of use.

The software is the same software that drives their cockpit controllers (Flight sim gear) and you'll find yourself binding things to random keyboard keys then binding the mouse to also use those keys, rather then being able to bind mouse buttons like the roccat software.

Also heard good things about Razers, had a couple but i didnt like the Naga so i went with the Kone [+].

You're better off staying away from the R.A.T line. Esspecially if you have anything but small hands.

I have never used anything but a hard mousepad and there was no visual dust, also as another member has mentioned sometimes an axis will just derp.

As of right now I am actually using the RAT 7. So far, when I first got it, it was amazing. But now that Iook at it. It is very customizable granted its not worth $90. If you can get it for maybe $70 or $50 at max its an ok deal at most. You can change the palm rest (it comes with 3, 1 default, 1 other default, and 1 gripped (I use this one)), you can slide it back and forth as you like, add weights to the mouse itself rotate the thumb rest a few degrees and change the pinky rest. There are settings and extra buttons but they are quite awkward to actually use. Overall. If you're going for a gaming mouse go for Razer. I have an Anasi keyboard (its amazing (got it on sale for $50)) and the build quality is amazing. And previous Razer mice that I have had that have broken I wish never did especially because this RAT 7 isn't an upgrade at all.

I really have no idea why this WTB thread is now turned into a support thread...

Not what I would see in a usual trading situation in a forum site.

That list suggests the Death Adder, I had one for all about 5 days before I replaced it with a G400 (I was a fan of the old G5) the laser on it was all over the place, I don't know what this site is on about.

I've had a RAT9 for about a year now. It has its pros and cons.

Pro:

It does fit well in your hand and feels comfortable and well build. I can quite comfortably use mine for hours. The button placement is well thought out and the programing software is a breeze to use. I love the on the fly DPI and profile changing because I tend to use different profiles and DPI for different classes in a lot of games. Plus for internet browsing the left-right scroll wheel is amazing. I have it scroll through tabs.

Cons:

Dust is a killer. The smallest amount of dust makes is go crazy. It's easy to fix but it's annoying when it happens. You usually lose a direction of movement. I also find that sometimes it changes its DPI setting on me spontaneously.

All in all it's not brilliant, there are a few glitches that get frustrating. I wouldn't pay more than $75 for a RAT7.

Steelseries Sensei all the way. Fully customizable LED's to any color, great software to customize anything about the mouse, never had ANY problems with the sensor or dust getting in it. And lastly, it glides on any surface, I don't even use a mouse pad. Oh and the side buttons, and braided cable are nice.
