Buying a GPU with DX12 looming

So I was almost ready to buy my build Wednesday, but decided to wait a couple of week after I quit my old job and start my new one and it may have been beneficial with the DX12 announcement coming out.

I was looking to pick up a GTX 780, but with the announcement would it be beneficial to wait until some additionally DX12 information comes out to see if either the 700 series cards will support DX12 (highly unlikely) or just see if it'll be worth waiting until the next gen cards supporting DX12 are to be released soon?

This is the first time I've been caught between DX generations like this so I'm not really sure how to react.

I have a feeling DX12 is gong to be used as much as DX 10 was...

What I'm reading around (and this is of course only speculation, we'll know more on the 20th) is that with AMDs Mantle as for of a template, that MS is more than likely going to take the approach AMD did and give us nearly hardware level access. There's no other option for them at this point.

If that's the case it may be the greatest jump in performance for the DX line that we've ever seen.

if the benefits of DX12 are only similar to mantle, then it will likely not take off as with modern CPU's the CPU has long stopped being a bottleneck.
