So after saving up i'm about to have about $900 - $1000 and i'm trying to decide between getting a gaming laptop or upgrading my PC. I have a HD 7850 and a i5 3570k with 1TB HDD and 250GB SSD. I'm going off to college in about a year or so and I intend on taking a Desktop, but i'm wondering if it would be worth it to get a laptop for school. Any suggestions for upgrades would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I'm in a similar situation, with an i5-3570K, 120GB SSD, and HD 7950. I'm going off to college next year. I think it would be better to get a gaming laptop at this point, since it'll be more portable. I have also heard many reports of computer theft at college(depends which college you'll be going to), and I wouldn't want anyone stealing my rig, or parts from it.
I'm planning to pick up the Y410P or Y510P later this year.
I would say get a laptop for class work, but not a gaming one as there battery life sucks. Go with an AMD APU so you have good battery life and can still do some light gaming on the side.
If it is a laptop for just schoolwork then get a Acer C270 and slap a Linux distro on it.
