I hope you can help what may be a relatively easy question for seasoned builders. Thanks in advance.
So I am building a x99 based machine. The MB is an EVGA Micro. I am ordering some CORSAIR Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M4A2400C14 16GB (4 x 4GB) Ram which is supported by the motherboard. However, it's only supported after BIOS update 1.15 - so I will need to update the MB.
Since I am building the machine slowly and the GPU will come last. Will I be able to update the BIOS seeing that X99 CPU's don't have a intergrated Intel GPU component. Will I be able to see any dislpay of the UEFI BIOSif I use my monitor prior to installing the GPU?
I believe that since there is no display adapter on the board itself, there will be no way to display anything unless you have the GPU available.
So short answer, no. You shouldn't be able to see anything until you have your GPU plugged in. Your best bet is to try to find a cheap PCI-e video card in lieu of your fancy one that will come sooner or later so you can test your system before your RMA/Return window closes on you.
Its likely your board will have shipped to you with a compatible bios. There is no way Evga is shipping boards with revision 1.0 bios's this long into a products life cycle. I wouldn't worry about it unless you have tested and seen that it doesn't work, which is doesn't wound like you've done since your only now ordering the ram.
