Building my gaming/video editing PC

Hi guys, I'm looking to build myself a new PC. I will be ordering all the parts and building it at the end of August.
  • Budget. 12000 SEK - $1800
  • Where do you live: I will be buying most stuffs in Sweden, I am currently in Thailand so might be buying some stuffs here to take back when I travel bacl to Sweden.
  • Do you need or already have peripherals? Yes I have all the necesary peripherals
  • What will you be using your future computer for? Gaming and Video editing
  • Do you overclock or want to get into overclocking? Yes, but not so advanced yet
  • Do you plan on going for custom watercooling now, or in the future? Maybe, but not anytime soon
  • OS. Do you need a new one? Yes

If you Game-

I am a competitive player, so FPS is very important to me. I would like atleast 100+ FPS on games like BF3/4. So the settings does not really matter as long as it doesn't affect the game play.

I game at 1080

If you Render or Edit things-

  • What application do you use to render? After effects, Vegas pro
  • Do you render movies or photshop pictures Yes

Here is what I have come up with so far: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1k5Hp

I am pretty sure about my CPU, Case, and storage. What do you guys think about the Corsair H100i Cooler?

I know I would like a GTX 770, but I am still unsure which to choose, between the Asus and the Gigabyte.

As for the motherboard, I stuck between the Asus Hero VI, the Asus z87-pro, or even a Gigabyte motherboard.

Lastly, I have no idea what PSU to choose. From the limited research I did I decided with the Corsair Enthusiast 750W

Thanks in advance! Looking forward for all your replies!

its a little bit over budget but a GTX780 instead of a GTX-770 is realy worth it, in therm of performance, it destroys allmost every card arround, exept the titan a GTX780 performs realy close to the titan, for  very less money, realy the card you wanne have for video editing. ofc the case is something personal.

Thanks for the feedback!

I have been thinking about the GTX 780. I guess I ll just have to see at the end of the day if I am able to dig up some money for it.

If I were to buy the 780 I would have to decrease the costs of the other parts, if that was the case, which parts should I spend less on?

Also I saw that you took the H80i instead of the H100i, is that just to save money, or is the H80i an equivalent product to the H100i

I suggest get the 3770k for a few reasons.

It's cheaper and is getting even cheaper.

Motherboard is and gets cheaper.

The 4770k isn't that much of an upgrade over the 3770k, the heat and wattage increased alot.

And since the 3770k has lower heat you can overclock it further than the 4770k.

And yes the H100i will do the job just fine.

So you're saying that I should get the 3770k instead of the 4770K, and therefore a different motherboard.

Then take the money that I saved from these two to buy the 780 instead of the 770?

well taking a 3770K will not realy save you some money, because the i7-4770K and 3770K are allmost equal in price.

You could cheap out on storage, picking up a 1TB WD caviar blue or Seagate baracuda, that saves you a couple of dollars. OR a cheaper SSD, Like samsung 840. or buying a SSD later on, could also be an option to saving money.

you could also pickup a cheaper mobo, but the Asus Rog hero board is very nice priced, and good quality board, i would personaly stay with it.

indeed i picked up a corsair H80i to save money,  but this LC cooler will also be capable, to keep some basic overclocks nice and cool.

Ok. Would you say I should get the 3770k over the 4770k or just stick with the 4770k?

Thanks Again!

i would personaly stay with the i7-4770K  in my opinion its not realy worth it invest money into a dead socket that the socket 1155 is. That doesn´t mean that the 3770K is a bad cpu, not at all, but there is no upgrade path.. because its end of life.
