Building my first PC

looks good to me.
i would personaly change those rams to lowprofile ones.
Just to avoid eventualy compatibility issues with the cooler.
Corsair Vengeance lpx for example, or G.skill sniper or ares.

The motherboard i basicly fine, but in terms of looks, i would personaly go for an ATX board in a case like that.
Asrock H97 pro4 for example, or Asrock H97 Fatal1ty performance.

What about going something like xeon e3 1220 insted of 1231? Too big of a downgrade or? Also maybe a cheaper case that would save me some money? This setup cost me around 9k kuna which is more then I thought I would spend.

Also could you tell me the differenc between these 2:

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-strixgtx970dc2oc4gd5
All I can really see is that core clock speeds are different.

And Is this a good ssd? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/kingston-internal-hard-drive-sv300s37a120g

In terms of those Xeon chips, i would stick to the E3-1231-V3.

  • Xeon E3-1220-V3 is like an locked i5-4460 without an igpu, it only has 4 cores and no hyper-threading, which means 4 cores 4 threads.
  • Xeon E3-1231-V3 is basicly a locked i7 without igpu, it comes with 4 cores + Hyper-threading, which means 4 cores 8 Threads

So yeah it will basicly be a downgrade.

About those the GPU's.

  • Asus strix is the better card, it comes with higher clocks out of the box and the cooler is better.
  • Asus turbo is basicly just a better looking stock card with blower style cooler.
Those coolers are often a bit noisy and dont perform that well compaired to an aftermarket cooler like the strix.

About the SSD.
That kingston ssdnow arent great, there have been allot of performance issues with them, and it would personaly not recommend them.
I would recommend to pick something like a Samsung 850 EVO.

I saw the asus strix on a sale for only like 10-ish $ more so I'll pick that up and Xeon E3-1231.
Thank you for all the help!
