Building my first gaming computer for less than $1000

I have built computers in the past but have never overclocked or built one for gaming. I came up with this build after researching builds on here, youtube, reddit, and would like to keep the final price under $1000. I already bought an ssd and will be cannibalizing my old mouse, keyboard, dvd burner, and 1 TB hard drive.

My main questions are:

Should I stick with the i5-3570K or switch to AMD?

Is this setup over-clocking friendly?

Is the PSU overkill?

If I do overclock, are all the fans going to sound like a helicopter in the room? I have a wife who will use this for general computing and will probably not like a really loud computer.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

looks good, though i would go with a 7870 XT/LE (tahiti core) over the base 7870.

I would pick a Corsair Carbide 300R, but that's a matter of preference and budget.
