Hey guys I'm a huge fan of all the content on your Youtube channel so i thought I'd share
my build.

Little background on myself to introduce myself to the community ;)
I'm an Army veteran that just came back from deployment, got the opportunity to travel most of the world with the Army and I'm grateful for that. Regardless I'm back home, and like many of you I'm into PC gaming and PC building. I'm currently a college student, but enough about me though.

Did you already purchase everything?

So... Let me get this straight... You got good freesync monitor and you are going to buy gimped Nvidia cards to use with it in SLI...
Get a single Sapphire Fury, non X, overclock the chip AND the HBM and blow the 970 SLI out of the water... You may get 70 instead of 80 FPS In some games, but with the freesinc monitor this would not matter. And it will be way cheaper...
And if you really want the best of the best, any moment now there should be FuryX2 on the market, and that thing will blow everything out of the water... Performance wise...

Should certainly return those 970s and get a non X Fury so you can use the free-sync on your display

Also not much need for the unlocked i5 with a 60hz display

and you probably got too much RAM given the i5

And if you get the fury you can save cash on the PSU

And peripherals are whatever, but ya coulda saved a bit there as well

I don't mean to sounds like a fanboy but AMD isn't exactly getting enough support from game developers which is why im leaning towards the 970's, id rather just change the monitor.
I'll see if I can get my hands on a ASUS ROG PG278Q 27" WQHD soon, and i did already purchase everything in the process of building it. I'm a very heavy multitasker, i tend to keep a lot of tabs open in the background while i run games which is why I got the extra ram. Saving money really isnt my goal in this build just want to have an overpowered PC at home. If anyone has any games they recommend with a good community that would be awesome.

What do you mean support from game developers? Did you mean things like gameworks and optimization? Because nvidia kinda pays to have that in there, and things like TressFX are much better software to be support, as if you compare it to hairworks it runs equally well on both GPUs.

Otherwise at just about every price point AMD except the high end gives a bit more performance right now, especially with crossfire scaling which is current better than nvidia's SLI.

Not to mention the whole 3.5gb thing with 970s, if you crossfire 390s you have 8gbs of VRAM to work with which depending on resolution you may end up using

That "support" is exactly why you shouldn't buy nVidia. I really don't agree with the way that they run their business. They are the Apple of pc hardware.

No really, stop that... The games aren't working with amd GPU's? What do you mean? Don't...
Why does people keep ignoring amd? They give you cheaper cards with the same performance - you ignore them. They give cheaper Gsync alternative - you ignore them. Nvidia does shady stuff - people defend them.
You ask us about opinion? Fury with this monitor will give you much more for much less price.
If you just want to waste your money get a TitanX. No matter FuryX is 30-40% cheaper and 5% slower.

Fury Is supposed to get some voltage unlocking as well soon, might actually make the Fury X a viable alternative to the 980ti

Can't agree with you guys more, AMD is a great company and a cheaper alternative. I'm not saying AMD GPU's don't work with games, but the titles I'm looking at work with gameworks. I'll move over to a monitor with g-sync. Regardless AMD doesn't have the best driver support out there. I understand the need for competition, but if Nvidia has the lead right now honestly I don't see why people choose to hate on it. It doesn't have the best business practices, but no company does.

In what way are nvidia drivers better? Simply because they release an update with every AAA game release? Not to mention that whole recent debacle with 700 series cards losing performance in The Witcher 3 with newer drivers

Besides, AMD is going to be overhauling their software UI, and will be including some nice features such as per game GPU tuning

Like Batman Arkham Knight, Assassin Creed Unity?
Because Witcher 3 and GTA5 are fairly comparable... And with the latest drivers there is 20% increase in Fallout 4 performance...

FuryX is even at the moment viable alternative to 980 Ti... 4K it's even faster. 1440p they have similar performance. So yeah... An with the latest drivers (20% fallout 4 performance increase) Fury X should outperform 980Ti in 1440p as well.. .

Ya but the 980ti can actually overclock, which puts it a fair bit ahead of the Fury X, though the non X Fury is still a pretty good competitor to the 980 and even 980ti at 4k in some games

If AMD can take the lead with their hardware and show better in game performance I'm all for it, competition is good for all of us. End of the day we need both companies to try to out do each other so we can see innovation. I understand when you buy a companies product it's like voting for a company, but I don't have the luxury of viewing it that way. I buy the hardware that looks like it has the most tread because it'll last me longer. Hopefully the new crimson update can help optimize their hardware for newer games.

but 390s would probably last you longer anyways, since they have more VRAM compared to the 3.5+5 GBs on the 970, and AMD cards will probably support DX12 much better than nvidia cards, at least until the next generation of cards in a year or so if nvidia can fix their issues with it

There's also this insane option of a dual 390 card, comes with a free $125 dollar mouse, but costs $800

Well seems you're stuck with the 970s then, never mind, they should be fine, but longevity especially in regaurds to DX12 is iffy right now for nvidia

The Fury and Fury X scale really well. For 1440p (which seems to be the resolution that you want), one Fury should be enough to maintain good frame rates. A cheap korean 1440p monitor (can be had for ~$220, I have one arriving in a few days and can tell you how it is if you want) and a Fury (non X) would prbably be the best route imo. But if you already have the 970s, then just go with that. Personally, I would stick with single gpu configs. A Fury now and if that stops being enough in the future, then grab a newer gpu then. Next year's gpus are shaping up to be real killers. A single Fury should hold you over for a good while. Save the rest of the money for later on.

Do we need to go DX12 support conversation? Then Nvidia is even more screwed with 390 shaping 980 in benchmarks...
It is your choice at the end of the day. However, performance per dollar, AMD have better offerings. Multi GPUs - amd is way ahead in multi gpu support. Crossfire outperforms SLI in any test. It has much better scaling. Multi monitor support? Eyefinity anyone? Way better technology than surround.
Nvidia performs better...
980Ti - Fury X may not always beat it,but it have similar performance.
980 - Fury beats it. 390X is cheaper and have the same performance.
970 - 390 beats it.
960 - 380 beats it
950 - that is the only Nvidia Gpu that have no competition.
Oh, but TitanX...
295x2 anyone? The fastest videocard on the planet? Actually viable for 4k gaming?
No, I don't think Nvidia is the best thing since sliced bread. It just have more fans for some reason...

Alright, since you have the pictures up, I can see that you literally already have everything up and running. So I wouldn't recommend going through the trouble of using different parts (sending them back and all that would be a pain in the ass, and this is a fine build). Although I wouldn't personally buy anything from nVidia or Intel right now, I can see why you would. For the record, SLI 970s should be more than enough to push that resolution, so if you are happy with that monitor, then I see no reason to bother with getting a G-sync one or a higher resolution one either. I really hope you enjoy the glorious pc master race (even with all the infighting and disagreements that may come along with it).

Now that dual 390 card is what I like to see! That's an insane amount of vram though.
@psycho_666
you say in your profile your an AMD fanboy man, listen I'm not defending Nvidia I just need gameworks, hairworks and any other type of works built into some games. AMD is awesome, and I don't pick sides because sooner or later the other is bound to take the lead.
@1920_1080p_1280_720p
yeah the set up is complete, have my ps4, xbox1 and wiiU set up with the PC.

FYI
The WiiU is probably the best gaming platform (Nostalgia ftw)

Doesn't hairworks reduce fps by like 30% even on nvidia cards though? And why would you need gameworks?
