What i need:  input, what do you think of the build? is there any issues that you might come with this build? is there anything better that you can recommend for around the same prices and/or cheaper of the same quality or better?

for god sakes people, i know its too much power, but the case comes built in with a bunch of fans and i plan on eventually running in sli w a second graphics card. a lil extra is never bad!!  :D

Subtotal: $2,352.18

TOTAL SO FAR: $2,751.57 (After estimated shipping and tax)

~ ALL SUGGESTIONS ARE OPEN TO DISCUSSION ~

Beast, but too beast, at least PSU wise. Unless you plan on putting in 3 other 980s for quad sli 1200 watts is mucho overkill. you'd be safe with 600.

If you dont plan on overclocking, don't go for k parts. The k means unlocked, but if not needed/wanted dont waste the money!

If not overclocking, a closed loop water cooler will also be overkill. air cooling works just dandy

Standard gaming rig is boot SSD plus storage HDD. I have samsung evo 128 for boot, 2tb hhd (on sale, don't even know what it is) for storage, partitioned so that games sit on the edge of disk, movies and music on the inside.

Butt...... if money is no object to you, go nuts!

building a monster for now, building for the future man ! :) appreciate the input

What's your budget?

What country are you located in?

Something like a RM 1000w would be fine, and you can get 970 sli for only a little more than a 980 , and they will give you stellar FPS .

That psu you chose is old , please get something newer like the hx1000 or RM 1000 , etc .

my pleasure! your cpu should certainly last a while, and if thats your thinking, a 'k' part would be good. Once it starts to feel a bit sluggish, just overclock the tits off it! If future proofing is your goal, you might want to think about the average lifespan/volatility/upgrade cycle of your parts. Mechanical hard drive tech hasn't really changed in the last 400 years, but my gtx 780 I got last year for 500 bucks is now 350ish. Things to keep in mind. If you get your beasty PSU, getting another 980 in a year or two wont be a problem. You might want to splurge on a really high quality SSD, since that'll travel into your next computer. Anyways, food for thought.

Also, theres a 3 tb hhd on amazon for 100 bucks right now

http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Desktop-3-5-Inch-Internal-ST3000DM001/dp/B005T3GRLY/?&tag=bom-tomshardware-20&ascsubtag=[site|tgus[cat|NA[art|28037[pid|B005T3GRLY[tid|NA[bbc|manual

alright, @Some Tech Noob my budget is non existant, although im building to last and i dont mind haveing to buy a new gpu if it burns out, but that being kept in mind in the future if i ever need/want to run 4k all the time i might invest in sli just for that purpose. located in the US.

@smegmatron Thanks man! just carted two of them :D i have  tb drive full of information an buissness things as well as movies/music/games

@Mihemine tis dualy noted, ill look into a newer PS :)

so, im thinking of picking up 2 ssds (only going to be using one of the tb drives for now) was thinking one for OS and the other for files i need quick access to as well as some games that i frequent.  keep in mind, it may seem like im excessively spending, but i just got my 7 year signing bonus so i can afford a few new things. priorly ive been on my laptop as well as a shitty 300 dollar computer i built 5 years ago o.o so this is supposed to be enough for me to not have to entirely re-kit my system for a long while.

[edit] also, i've been having a hard time finding a good motherboard, what do you think of the stated above board? im looking for quality, possible overclocking easy fine tuneing, but as well as plenty room for more than one 980 if i choose to have another one.. out of everything, motherboard has been the harder choice!

Your case's airflow is not really good. I recommend that you use an AIO like NZXT Kraken X61. As for storage, a Crucial MX100 256GB and a Western Digital Black 1 or 2TB.

EDIT: I would recommend you to change your PSU to Seasonic X or EVGA Supernova G2

May read this before buying 3TB Seagates as they tend to have a very high failure rate

http://www.pcworld.com/article/2089464/three-year-27-000-drive-study-reveals-the-most-reliable-hard-drive-makers.html

I would recommend Hitachi Deskstar 7k4000 drives  ... they are a bit more or you can buy more Seagates and replace them as they fail.

The 750D is a great case and a H110 is almost the same as the needlessly more expensive X61. For storage I agree with you Razor completely I have a MX100 its great, while its a little slower then many SSDs its cheap and easy, a WD Black with 2TB is pretty much the best mechanical hard drive you can buy. Also, consider some other SSDs depending on what you are doing you may want a faster one or a boot drive Samsung makes some really good drives like the 840 EVO, 840 pro, and the 850 pro, but really there are tons to choose from. I highly encourage you to overclock your graphics card on this build, the 980 overclocks extremely well and it's really a easy and safe thing to do. For the motherboard I don't like gigabyte I think they make cheap crap but, that is really just me. Asus and MSI make some really nice stuff so maybe consider some of their stuff, Also Asus has automatic CPU overclocking software that is really well made so that could be a good selling point for you. As others have said your PSU is really overkill for that build If you had R9 290xs or something I could see that kind of wattage; that being said there is nothing wrong with getting more then you need it just is going to cost you a little extra. Lastly if you are planning on going 4k there is nothing wrong with a 980 they are the best, however, the R9 290x has really come down in price some of the good ones are around 320$ right now consider that you could get 2 for nearly the price of one 980. For 4k and 1440p the R290x is only like 10-15% behind that mighty 980, so yeah.

Thanks for the info! found it really informative, like i said i have NEVER overclocked and barely know anything on how to do it, its just something i have to make time to research some but as far as i can tell 10/10 on the info scale :D so, the question is do i want to get a realy nice overkill case :P its just hard to find that "perfect" one for the system.. so many thoughts lol. must return to research!

Lol yeah, I know how it is I just bought parts for a new build today it took me like all week to make up my mind!

Best of Luck on your build!

so, any ram suggestions? i think i know what im getting im just trying to figure out if anyone has had really awsome ram lately cause i know a few brands lately have been striking out in the performance area.

look at what i just found for $$230 off http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147194&cm_re=samsung_840_pro-_-20-147-193-_-Product  !!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, now that's a steal! Anyway, you don't need a freaking 1000+ Watt power supply. 750W is enough with room for 1 more card.

In fact, 750w is more than enough room for two maxwell cards, like two GTX 980s.  If you don't overclock, you could easily fit 4 GTX 980s under 750w.

i actually plan on overclocking, i just dont know how... but plus i got most of my things situated for now, still looking for flaws in my thinking and whatnot.

Input eh,

Mouse: Logitech G402/G502, Deathadder 2013. If you are looking for claw grips, Mionix Avior 7000 or Zowie FK1

Keyboard: Ducky Shine 3 or Corsair K70 RGB if you really need lights.

Audio: Beyerdynamics DT990, your motherboard is powerful enough to drive this. Though I would recommend a Mayflower O2 AMP/DAC to have it guarantee 100% works. Also, get a Modmic, and you have one of the best systems out there.

have a really nice dac already as well as some good headphones. as for mouse il be using my trusty/dusty razor naga molten edition.  for keyboards i have a few in mind but im less worried about keyboards and moreso joystick, but i already have a really expensive one  that has been working for years just fine so far!

oh dear, that not an insignificant failure rate between seagate and the others! I've had a bunch of their drives in the past without any issues. I wasn't super thorough, but I wonder what the failure rates are between hhds used as storage vs boot drives?
