Building a low budget computer around a amd fx 6300 (6-core). I am going to do some gaming watching videos all the good stuff. I will probably use a ITX or mATX motherboard and load Linux mint or Peppermint Linux. Any suggestions on motherboards, hardware and video cards would be helpful.
From what I can tell in the BIOS of my Gigabyte board it should support linux pretty well ... Though I haven't yet tried an on metal install to fully test that theory. Alot of people I see are saying that Gigabyte and ASRock are halfway decent if you get the right board. Your best bet is to look for a motherboard you can afford, has the features you would like to have or at least need to have, and then search around specifically to see what people online say about it playing nice with linux.

MATX boards lack features on the AN3 platform and ITX boards don't exist. I'd go with the setup above. Its pretty beastly. To decrease the cost you could do 8gb of RAM, remove the SSD, and drop to a 380. Maybe even replace the Corsair with a Noctua NH-D15.... Although I prefer AIOs...
And if you don't already have the 6300, the 8320 is worth upgrading to... Just lose the SSD and swap in the 8320. IF YOU DONT ALREADY HAVE IT.
Thanks for all the information the pcpartpicker page seems like a good start.
Ya if you want itx, AM3+ is not an option. The PC part picker link above is obviously a good pc, but you said low budget computer, and as far as I am concerned 1k isn't exactly low budget. So with that said, what is your budget.
from what i've heard amd drivers in linux are poor when compared to nvidia..... Hurts to say that , so it would be better to go with nvidia. if you only plan to use linux, that is. i would strongly recommend r9 380 :..( or a gtx 960 (depending on which is cheaper ofcourse) check this link out http://pcpartpicker.com/p/c3tLgs >not a corsair fanboy but the reviews are pretty high<
oh and i forgot to mention AMD and mATX builds are quite hard to find/Do , its better to stick with ATX and mid tower cases :(. Oh and if you are not going to use linux then r9 380 would be best buy
The chip was free a friend of mine got it a few weeks ago and never used it still in the box never opened it. I already have 3 computers I built but that was before I started asking questions because us old guys think we know it all in reality we don't. Luckily they all work good no problems. I am going to buy the parts slow no rush in the build I just thought it was time to start asking more questions before I put it together.
