I need to present this to my dad before I buy. I need to make sure all the facts are correct, and if I forgot any parts(Besides the RAM). If you can find better deals, link them. If you can find better parts for around the same price, link them. Any suggestions at all. Anyways, here's my list thing.
Mandatory:
Power Supply:
- This should be powerful enough to handle 4 GPU's. It's gold rated, which will save money.
- Link: http://amzn.to/1nZ7NLV
- Cost: $118.00 (New)
Motherboard:
- Can hold up to 6 GPU's if we ever want to expand the rig.
- Link: http://amzn.to/RhNcFf
- Cost: $128.00 (New)
Crate:
- This crate can potentially hold 2 power supplies and 6 GPU's. We don't need that much room, but we might some day.
- Link: http://amzn.to/1juYekS
- Cost: $13.00 (New)
GPU's:
- If we get 4 of these, we should get around 1.5 MH's a second. Because they are used, the price differs for each one. They are all in "Very Good" condition.
- Link: http://amzn.to/1uqzhff
- Cost: $90.00 - $104.99 (Used)
CPU:
- These really crappy CPU's are amazing for mining rigs and are highly recommended. It's just powerful enough to handle the operating system.
- Link: http://amzn.to/Q6PBRU
- Price: $30.99
Riser Cables:
- Since we are building the crate rig, we need to 'rise' the GPU's up to get better spacing and air flow. Since we're getting 4 GPU's we need 4 riser cables.
- Link: http://amzn.to/1j3mPh8
- Price: $5.48 (Each)
Optional:
Box Fan:
- We need something to cool the GPU's down. All the GPU's have fans on them, but if we have this fan blowing from the side on all the GPU's, we shouldn't have any issued with heat. We could also just buy this from a local store.
- Link: http://amzn.to/1kDkRAu
- Cost: $24.98 (New)
Zip Ties:
- These will hold and tie down the motherboard, power supply, GPU', and just for keeping the dandling wires neat. The only reason these are optional is because we might have them at our house. I don't know.
- Link: http://amzn.to/1ij1efn
- Price: $5.95 (Pack of 100)
Bumpers/Risers:
- This would be used to keep the motherboard slightly elevated from that ground. It's highly recommended by a ton of people. We could also find these at a local store.
- Link: http://amzn.to/1mvLm1z
- Price: $2.79 (Pack of 12)
Total Price: $716.94
I don't really think you can accomplish much with GPU mining anymore. I might be wrong though.
Yeah mining Bitcoin with GPUs isn't really a thing anymore.
You'd never make back the cost of this rig plus the electricity to run it mining. Save your money.
Bitcoin is not profitable unless you mine with an ASIC. I'm going all Dogecoin baby!
You can still mine Litecoins and Feathercoins with GPUs, as well as Doge coins and a few others.
Even with Dogecoin, you will only make like a dollar a day. Would take several years to make up for what you spent. And *coins are kind of deflating and phasing out a bit.
That's way off. I can make over a dollar a day with just my gaming PC. That has 1 GPU.
Imagine what a rig can do.
You have to remember that as you increase the number of GPUs you increase cost and power consumption and the law of diminishing returns will make it so you earn less per card.
One dollar. One GPU.
Four GPUs. Four Dollars. Maybe five.
Tell me how that is worth it?
I said over a dollar a day. And by day, I mean only mining overnight. This rig mines 24/7. Tell me how this isn't profitable.
Here is a link from the dogcoin profitability calculator. With your supposed setup, you will actually be LOSING money per day. From power costs.
1.5MH/s, 850 watt PSU.
http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/dogecoin-mining-calculator/?h=1500.00&p=850.0&pc=0.10&pf=0.00&d=878.20927091&r=125000.00000000&er=0.00000104&btcer=423.55000000&hc=0.00
You'll make less than $2 per day.
I don't know what hash rate you have now, but I doubt you make more than $1.00 a day, if this was your "mining" rig.
Well it all depends on what doge is worth at that moment. As long as you truly believe that Dogecoin is going to explode like bitcoin did, then it's profitable.
Enough about coins. I came here to get help on facts/parts. Let's stay on topic.
I dont know anything really about mining, but this $20 USB ASIC says it can mine at 2GH/z. I'm sure I'm looking over something, since I can't imagine that this would be just as fast as your $700 rig.

ASICs will only mine Bitcoin, not litecoin or Dogecoin.
Guys, can I please get help? Let's try not to discuss cryptocoins.
