So basically im about to build my first good computer and I would like to hear some opinions on my choice of RAM, motherboard and PSU.
I have chosen the G.Skill Ripjaws X (2x4gb) 1600 CL9 as my RAM because it is cheap and i've heard a lot of good things about it. Good way to go?
As for the motherboard, im going for the MSI Z77A-GD55. I thought about this for a long time and I just want to make sure that i buy a good quality product.
And last but not least, my PSU. I am torn between the Corsair CX V2 Builder Series 600W (83 euros) and the XFX 550W Core Edition (only 62 euros). So which one should I go with? I would really like to choose the XFX since it is 20 euros cheaper but is a 550W PSU enough for an AMD 7870 and an Intel i5-2500K? What about future CF (maybe)?
Im sorry about the long post and so many questions but I want to be sure when buying all this =)
Greetings Hannes, I would suggest don't go cheap on your power supply, get a high rated power supply that would surpass your usage needs. The power supply is going to feed all of your components in your system and dirty power isn't something you want. I personally went with the Ultra U12-40874 LSX 750-Watt and it powers my two R6870's from MSI at a 1Ghz overclock XD. I hope this helps some in your choice.
Thanks a lot! I know it is important to buy a quality PSU and thats why I want to check what you guys think. If I still may ask though, I found Corsair Gaming Series 600W (88e). Should I just spend a little extra and go for that one? My hardware dealer (in Finland) recommends that one.
Hi, I'm guessing you're buying from Jimms? At least that's my usual place for hardware :)
The XFX Pro 550W would do just fine for your needs, and those powersupplies are excellent quality (Seasonic OEM). If you just want some headroom and crossfire capability for pretty much any new cards, I'd just get the 650W watt version which is 84,90€ http://www.jimms.fi/tuote/P1-650S-NLB9
