Build Log: Headphones

This is my first build log.

It is for some headphones I scrapped together.

At first, I had no intention to make a build log out of this. due to that, the first few parts will not have any pictures.

Lets get started!

The collection phase:

I acquired some broken SK Hesh headphones- I used the drivers from these.

I found a 3.5 mm f/f cable at a thrift shop and hacked it up.

I got some safety noise-canceling ear muff things (For shooting)

The build phase:

First I took off the ear pads and foam from the ear muffs.

Then I drew up a driver mount in Rhino which was printed through a 3d printer.

(The black one is from the Hesh headphones)

After that, I did a size check. The notches in the side where off by about 1 cm so I had to use an xacto knife and make a few modifications.

(During the check, I put the drivers in but while taking them out had broke a few of the brackets)

Then I taped the mounts to the ear pad plastic and put the drivers back in.

(Drivers went in after pic)

With that section done: time for the housing modifications.

Threaded a wire through the sleeve around the top and then drilled a few holes for the wires, and threaded the wires through the holes.

Then drilled a hole for the jack cord

(Might look a little funky due to resizing)

Then I layed out everything and got ready to solder.

And then soldered

After all that I put it together and put cloth over the mount to keep it clean.

(Much tape required)

Hopefully that was not too painful to read. I am a bit tired so everything seems alright to me.

Gallery has the final pictures.

Thanks for taking a look at my log.

these are really cool for cheap and depending how much of the noise blocking material you keep in the headphones you could have some nice noise isolating headphones.

If the 3d printing did not cost so much, they would have been fairly cheep. I neglected to leave the noise canceling material in the headphones as there was no room, However, even without the material I can barley hear a thing. Thanks for taking a look!
