Build Help (Monitor, GPU, Misc)

Hey everyone,

I am planning on using the computer for gaming (mmo, rts, moba, fps), video capturing while I game, minor photo editing. I would also like the computer to easily handle me gaming, while I stream video, music, and run multiple tabs on all of the screens.

Below is what I have put together so far, without the monitors.

I am wanting to setup three monitors. I have read up that the 970 GTX will handle three monitors, but is it as efficient as running two of them in SLI, or running two lesser cards in SLI?

These are the monitors I have found so far, though I'm still looking if anyone has suggestions. I want something around 24”-27” that can be mountable.

I have been looking up on monitor arm mounts, any experience or recommendations on them would be appreciated.

I am also looking at getting a mechanical keyboard as well, could use some recommendations on those too since I only have experience with basic keyboards.

This as well as other tips on the build itself as a whole would be appreciated, thanks!

TL;DR What 3 monitors, and GPU(s) do you recommend?

Get the i7 5820k you can save a lot of money. You really dont need the extra pci e lanes. Also i would get a bigger SSD and buy an nicer Cpu coller like the noctua nh d15 or a nice aio watercooler. So you can give the 5820k a nice overclock. If you want to game an all 3 monitor i would get 2 970.The zotac extrem are very nice : powerful , cool, and very quiet ?

For the CPU I am between the i7 5930k, and the i7 4790k. I can get them for a huge discount through my employer which leaves them at an $80 difference. Regardless would the 5930 be overkill?

After posting this I found a Samsung 500gb SSD (linked below). So leaning towards just that one or the smaller one for the OS and random crap as well as the larger one for my games.

I was thinking about two 970's but I've heard SLI can be finicky, not to mention very expensive for the two cards. Would buying a card, and extra monitor down the road be a bad idea due to issues finding the same ones?

Buying a second gpu later should be fine ( but then buy a larger powersupply now, but 850w is just fine ) the 5930k is a very, very, very nice cpu but you have to buy expensive ddr4 and X99 board. The 4970k is also very powerful and is probably enough for you, so if you want to save some money get the 4970k.

Yeah, I hadn't even thought of just buying higher end/mid range DDR3 (2400) instead of low end DDR4 (2400).

Thanks for the help/info.
