Build 1 vs build 2

Hey guys i was recently putting a new pc list together because i wanted to give my old pc to my son, the more i look into parts etc it doesnt seem like i will be upgrading that much what do you guys think of this

PC build 1 (my current pc)

CPU: Intel i5 2500k (stock), Mobo: Asrock Z68 extreme 3 gen 3, RAM: G.Skill 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3-1333, SSD: Crucial M4 60GB (windows boot drive), HDD: Seagate barracuda 2TB (storage), GPU: SAPPHIRE HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 Dual Fan, Case: Antec Three Hundred, PSU: Antec high currency 520w gaming

PC build 2 (my new build)

CPU: i5 3570, Mobo: Asrock H77-Pro4-MVP, RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR 3-1600, SSD: Samsung 830 128GB (Boot+some games), HDD: Seagate barracuda 2TB (storage), GPU: Gigabyte GTX 670 2GB OC, Case: Coolermaster Storm Enforcer, PSU: Antec high currency 750w gaming

will build 2 even be worth upgrading too or should i go for the 3570k and get a OC Mobo to make it worth it?

I would definitely get the K version + Z77 motherboard, if the 2500k is overclocked you're downgrading otherwise (CPU that is). The GPU is a fair bit faster in build 2 though. You can drop the PSU down to 650W and still have plenty of headroom too.

get a z77 mobo, and WD hdd's are alot better than seagate's. and if your getting 16gigs of ram, get g.skill sniper ddr3-1866 16gb dual channel (2x8gb) it's ~$60

and unless this is a workstation, or you do alot of video work, you don't need a 2tb hdd. and if your going to spend the $$$ for a 670, just get a 7970.

Awesome advice guys I think what i will do is just throw a  system together for him and just keep my 2500,something like this should do him for skyrim, wow, assasins creed etc.

CPU: Intel Core i5 3470 $189
Mobo: Asrock B75 Pro3-M $70
RAM: G.Skill Ares 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1600 $45
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB (ST2000DM001) $99
GPU: Powercolor 2GB AMD Radeon HD7850 $199
Case&PSU: Thermaltake V4 Black Edition w/ USB3 and 500W Litepower PSU $75
ODD: DVD burner $19
