Why is the requirement for regular status so high? i mean 85% of topics viewed, 50% of days on here. for someone like me who made a account and then left for a while and then came back. it is nearly impossible to become a regular.
85% of topics viewed? Most of the topics are build logs, politics (which i dont care for) or a linux question i dont know howto fix.
50% of days? I joined Way back in June 28 '15. i would have to be on here everyday atleast to even meet time requirements. But i cant since i dont have internet at home.
Sorry this turned into a bit of a rant, but i am just wondering.
the reason the Regular requirements are so high is because at one point Leaders and Regulars were identical when it came to power on the forum.
Leaders can edit threads, close them, hide them, and so on. Regulars were able to do that too at one point, till that got fixed. But that's one of the reasons. But overall Regular doesn't provide you special privledges anymore. Being a Leader does however.
Leader can be earned but it's next to impossible. You can be rewarded "Leader" status by a mod, which is how I became a Leader. But honestly to do that you just need to be a Good Samaritan on the forum that's all.
Yeah I fuck around with you guys on the lounge, but I did help a lot ot people over the 3 years I've been here. The forum has been the calmest it's ever been. So I don't think the mods are going to be electing leaders any time soon
Leaders are regulars who have been around forever and seen everything. They set a positive example for the community through their actions and their posts. If you need advice, these are the folks you turn to first.
They can get to trust level 4 by...
Manual promotion only at the moment!
In the future, look closely at quality?
From discourse forums, I can't see anythibg suggesting theyve changed that, they might have though.
No that's just what discourse creators said It's the next bit Manual promotion only Hence why an 8 month or 8 year old could get it, regardless of their post count or whatever
