Budget rig

i have a 600-700 dollar budget but i already have an os a hard drive and a optical drive this is my first build and i have done my research but i cannot seem to choose between intel, nidivia, amd everyone has different opinions i was hoping to get some builds from either side.

The case is up to you. Also you may wanna think about picking up an SSD.

This is an alternative Intel build. You don't have the GTX 770 but instead there is the GTX760 and an 120GB SSD from Kingston. You can't overclock the CPU but you get respectable performance out of it. To note, some of these parts come cheap from Microcenter and hopefully you live near one so you can get these sweet deals!

Wat.

That is a horrible build no offense.

I mean yes it is an alternative but it really isn't. The i3 is a dual core and can't be OCed. The FX will kill it in most games even when not OCed and these things can got to 4.5 or higher.

The 760 is much slower. Games are way more GPU dependent (usually) so that is where the money should go and while an SSD is nice it isn't necessary and I'd rather have better FPS than faster start up times.

From what I see, Krieger has the better bang for your buck, however, NewGuy's choices are more upgrade-friendly (1150 socket > AM3/AM3+ socket || upgrading-wise).

Intel = Decent performance at this price range, but lots of room for upgrades considering the 1150 socket.

AMD = Best bang for buck, but with very small upgrade possibility considering the AM3 socket.

i would not put fx 6300 and gtx 770 together.  atleast fx 8320.

If you are more competitive online gamer and want stable fps i5 4440 and gtx 760

EDIT forgot permalink and realized the 750watt psu was when I was trying out SLI/Xfire configs the difference between the two PSU's is now my build offers a fully modular PSU,the downside is that it is white

Here is an alternative build, depending on what you find important, you may like it.

It offers 16 gigs or Ram over 8 which will help if you plan on video editing

It offers a slight clock jump in the 770 video card

motherboard offers 8+2 powerphase as opposed to 4+2

CPU is a bit faster (3.8MGhz vs. 3.5) in SINGLE THREADED performance

Tower has a window if you care

750watt vs 500watt PSU  this build offer semi-modular PSU

now the weak points to this build as opposed DeKreiger's build

Nothing makes up for those two extra cores when you need them

the 770 his build offers is about $20 cheaper though .14MHz slower clock speed

his system is a few dollars cheaper

IMPORTANT his system offers an after-market CPU cooler, that will come in handy with OC'ing however, the 8+1 power phase in my build makes it's Motherboard a better choice in that regard.

what system you prefer will come down to your uses for the machine.

What. The FX won't bottleneck until you start Crossfiring really high end cards. Even then it is minimal and only in really poorly optimized games.

I think it will be good to ask what you will be doing with this computer, before we start splurting out builds.

CAD?  Video Editing?  Gaming?

It is an alternative but I really wouldn't recommend it.

The Athlon is a pretty weak CPU and in more CPU intensive games it will really start to bottleneck that 770.

16GB of RAM is completely unnecessary. 8GB will be plenty. You aren't going to be doing any hardcore video editing on an Athlon so 8GB will be plenty for light video editing.

Yes my GPU is a little bit slower but it could easily be OCed to higher speeds.

I think my build will be better for you overall and it is cheaper.

I  will mostly be gaming with some regular computing coding and music editing not much else i won't be upgradin for about 2 years or so , so i need somehting that'll go the distance

Well, having more cores doesn't make it better than it. OC'ed FX-6300 could beat it out but from the research that I have done, the i3-4340 can hold it's own against the Fx-6300. I was surprised myself because I didn't expect much either but don't knock it till you try it, if you catch my drift. Anyway, I wouldn't underestimate it just because it's an i3.

Sorry for the lack of pertinence to the topic, but this is the first thing I thought of.

Good taste in music!
