Hello, I'm here to ask for assistance in hunting down a decent monitor. I've been reading for the last couple of days, even posted somewhere, but I haven't really found the answers I'm looking for. Most of my responses are "you need a 500 dollar + monitor or it's not worth even purchasing a new one". I'm just looking for down to earth, decent responses. I'm no monitor snob, I just need a decent, monitor for gaming primarily.
I've read everything from "OH IPS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO" to "IF YOU PLAY FPS GAMES, TN ONLY".
Basically, I'm just looking for a monitor that supports 1080p, 23"-24", and if possible $200 AT MAX. I don't know how well my computer would run games at anything beyond 1080p, and honestly, I'm using this, and have been using this for the last 6+ years. http://www1.viewsonic.com/products/archive/va903b.htm#tabbox_specs
I don't need anything super special, I would rather it be better response time than the one I am currently using just because it does have ghosting in FPS's, but I'm rather used to it now, but I'd rather it have less if possible. I don't care if it's TN or IPS or VA, as long as it fits the criteria(I did want to move away from TN, just to experience other panels but, if there's a good TN monitor for the right price, that'd be fine too).
This is one of the monitor's I have been looking at http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236288&nm_mc=AFC-C8junctionCA&cm_mmc=AFC-C8JunctionCA-_-Monitors+-+LCD+Flat+Panel-_-ASUS-_-24236288&AID=10592396&PID=3938566
Small question, it's 5MS GTG, how does that compare to my current monitor's 8ms response time?(basically asking if 5MS GTG is more like 15MS or something like that) And is this a semi decent monitor?
Thank you for any and all help/suggestions!
--quick edit, I have looked at plenty of other monitor's, but when I look up reviews/other forum posts about them it seemingly just turns into an IPS VS TN VS VA bashfest, some people claim the monitors I've looking at are amazing, other's say they are complete garbage. I know it's all opinion based but I'm just looking for realistic suggestions for a typical gamer. If I am to go by every monitor I've found and looked up under 350 dollars, then apparently they're all crap. So any and all advice/guidance is appreciated, thanks!
