Budget gaming rig

i just looked up a benchmark heres the link http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+FX-6300+Six-Core

No necessarily i think the only Intel CPU you could buy in the budget would be a Pentium 3220 for $69.99 which is only a dual core.

Those are all 200-300 processors. Don't sweat it

Thecaveman has a point pc ports have always been in the consoles shadow so i think ill go with your build and maybe if i can go up to the 8350 and get another 2x4 kit later

Make sure you have good 990fx chipset motherboard if you get a 8350

ok will do but that adds another 100 ill stick with the 6300 and get a new motherboard and the 8350 when its 120 like the 6300

Or you can do this the gpu is a slower than the GTX 760 but the CPU is alot faster than the last build i gave you

ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner - Bulk - OEM

NZXT Source 210 Elite White Steel with painted interior ATX Mid Tower Computer Case w/ Black Front Trim

Western Digital WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM

ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS AM3+ AMD 760G

NZXT HALE82-N NP-1BN-0550A-US 550W

PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

AMD FX-8320 Vishera 3.5GHz (4.0GHz Turbo) (8 Cores)

PowerColor AX7870 2GBD5-2DHV4E/OC Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-Bit

Total $662.31 All at newegg

*The reason I use new egg is because the have the best customer service as well as fast shipping

*for the other build you should ask newegg if the CPU is compatible with the Motherboard i think it is but its best to double check with them

Thats a viable option i would just got with a 660 if i was to downgrade the gpu

Im not a fanboy but in the benchmarks and forums that I have checked all say the 7870ghz is better than the 660 but if you were going to buy a 660 anyways I would recommend this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130967 its $10 more than the 7870ghz but if you want to get a 660 thats the way to go considering it has a 314Mhz overclock over the reference card

What the hell are you doing putting a power hungry CPU into a cheap ass motherboard...?

Since you guys were chit-chattin about GPUs, here's the general idea.

GTX 660 < R9 270 <= R9 270X <= 660ti

These cards are all similar in performance, with the r9 270 being similar to the 270x in framerates, and the 270x and 660ti taking wins and losses.

Now for the build.

I've fit in a motherboard that supports crossfire/SLI and has a strong 6+2 digital power phase that can handle hot 8 core AMD CPUs, such as the FX-8350.  I've also added a mid range graphics card.  The low wattage PSU will need to be upgraded if you do so wish to add another graphics card, but the R9 270 can still max out a decent amount of games, even from last year.  After taxes, the price may be a bit higher than your $650 budget, but still within reason.

If you really don't want to order from that many retailers, you can get the order convenience at the cost of your end result's pc upgradeablity and/or performance.

Amazon + Newegg: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2InLE

I wouldn't recommend upgrading to an 8 core CPU with this motherboard, and you can't crossfire in the future w/o a mobo upgrade.

you could swich the motherboard with this one it supports 8 cores and has more ram slots and more pci 2.0 slots it cost $20s more if you want to save on the case you can get the NZXT Gamma its $35 but has great build quality and it still looks good http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138372
