Budget Build, under $750

Here's the parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1p60A

My main question is:

If I don't really use heavy cpu processes (rendering, editing, etc.) and I only do mild gaming (mildly modded Skyrim or Metro 2033 would be the heaviest) Is going with the 6-core AMD chip, or even the 4-core chip, a solid choice for a budget system? This is of course including the Nvidia GTX 760 gpu, I plan on purchasing that regardless, my research has said its one of the best performance to price cards out there.

The PSU, Case, etc, are pretty much up to the whims of current sales whenever I finally have the money to purchase a system (although the PSU will be 80 Plus Bronze 600W at minimum).

What are your thoughts on the cpu, and do you think that the current build is a pretty good one, or could there be improvements in the price/performance arena?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1p6UX That works to all your standards i think, and it has 8 cores, for next gen gaming.

Why such fast ram? I mean it is an incredible deal but does he need it?

I see two of you chose a cheaper motherboard, but it doesn't have SLI. What board would you suggest that does have SLI? I figured that if I could SLI two 760's, in the future, rather than buy a whole new graphics card, I could save some money and still keep the computer in good shape. Or do you guys think it isn't worth it and that when the time comes I should just pony up a new card all together?

I picked it out because "why not?" was pretty much the situation. If I'm going to be spending $70ish dollars on some relatively good quality ram, why not get the good stuff.

SLI does run hotter, and you have to deal with mirco stuttering, and such..... So if you want, you can get an SLI board, but its probably better to go for one single gpu. Because by the time you need upgrade, the 780's will be cheaper and the 800 seies will be out.

Thanks for all the thoughts guys. I've synthesized the lists you've given me and I think I have a great build for the price now. Glad there's people out there willing to help.

Would you mind posting a copy of the parts you chose? It would be greatly appreciated ;)

Here's the final list, after I get the money saved this'll most likely be what gets purchased unless there's a crazy sale on something: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1pop8

Uhm, there is. The 7950's are having an extreme price drop. Check this out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007709&IsNodeId=1&Description=7950&name=Desktop%20Graphics%20Cards&Order=PRICE&Pagesize=20

The 7950 when overclocked can beat out the GTX 770.

Get Dual channel Ram it's much better.

Fair Enough :P

Figured I should update you guys because I did finally buy a system.

I compromised on the graphics card, I looked more into the benchmarks of cards and specific games that I play and right now the Radeon 7870 GHz edition should play everything without a hitch, so I went with that for budget issues.

Everything else was pretty much as before, so thanks for the suggestions guys.
