Bring back Demoscene!

I miss the days where microprocessors were stressed just by opening a picture too big for the monitor and needing to be scaled. But I have been looking at amiga demo stuff and tbh for what it all is it really is impressive... Where the hell did all of that go? It used to be the thing to do to aee what would push your machine!! Now what do we have... Oh look unigine! It only gives you ok frames of you have a new cpu! Look firestrike 4K!! That shit ain't demoscene bring me back Amiga LOVE! that was a cool demo. Hurr durr thats a hill. Cool unigine, don't care that much.

Too much power for demoscene on modern hard ware is the feeling get. A lot of demo scene was see what could be done in a restrictive space and they don't exist the be pushed the same way any more. Inefficiency rules the day now. Make it work but nuts to optimisation, there are too many configurations and features to optimise for now.

Then last one I saw was on the PS3 when they were pushing indie in the face if the Xbox because itndid not have any. They got a demoscene team to make a game for the PS3, forget the name now but should not be hard to find, and it was interesting but it was not stressing anything. It ended up just being a super indie point and click type deal. There was more to it but not much. There was no restriction so no where to push and as such just ended looking like an indie game rather than some technological wizardry.

Oh yeah the self imposed restrictions are alive and well. Amazing stuff too coming out of it, I just mean in general computing, not sure much of anything graphical really takes proper advantage of every bit of hard ware available when it comes to the like of a 4-6 core CPU and a high end GPU. A lot of just pushing stuff out and not much of people seriously pushing them properly, bare metal, open and optimised. A lot of API layers and tools to make things easier these days.

Glad to see that it is still going. I known it has typically been a more European thing too. Nice to see conventions going for it. Would love to catch one.
