Hello,
I want to hear more opinions about this new browser so.. tek syndicate members who are aware of this new piece of software and understand more I ever would, could you share here your opinions and/or facts to really clear some questions like, if it is bullshit or not about it being way faster and bla bla bla...etc.
Here is their site. https://brave.com/#faster
Thanks and have a good one.
its completely new and not based on any existing code? couldn't see that quickly.
also good points from @NetBandit
How do they make money?
Always follow the money.
They are looking to take a slice of Google's ad revenue.
Brave changes nothing.
Its based on Chromium.
a TY. Then i don't need to check it out. I know how Chromium works.
Yeah basicly just another browser of the Chromium family.
Of course its allways nice to have some choices wenn it comes to the use of multiple webrowsers.
But there are allready soo manny browsers which are build upon Chromium,
that i personaly not realy see what kind of place this would have in the market.
I also never understood the chrome hype myself, but i also used lot of browsers but kept using Firefox because i know how it works.
But maybe i should just use ncat to browse the web.
I use Firefox as my main browser aswell.
I still like it the most out of all browsers, since it still has support for npapi plugins that i need.
The only downside of Firefox is that since version 43 or so, it has gone a bit downhill,
with the take out from the new tab override feuture.
there is an addon for bringing that back.
But its kinda annoying.
I also use a plain version of Chromium.
Nice, I didn't know it was based on chromium, i'm on opera and firefox. I was just really curious about this "brave" thing hah! thanks.
oh that. You don't need a addon for that. I forgot that was indeed new. I instantly removed it. I think it were some about:config flags. I can't think of it now. Also if you like the older version there is Icecat that still has the old layout but is privacy enchanted by Gnu and Richard Stallman keeps mentioning it. They only do critical updates. I took a lot out of it for my build of firefox.
And it a mesh now..(my build) cant even find out what i changed...ugh
There was an option in the about:config flag clalled new tab url, which you could change to about:blank.
Then the tab url icon thingy on a blank tab page dissapears.
However Firefox has taken that new tab url override feuture out since Firefox version 43.
As far as i know its only possible to get rid of the new tab url icon on a blank page due a third part addon.
well indeed, i get a blank page now without addons. Sadly i cant display about:downloads. Thats what i always used there. Thats something i couldn't get fixed and just gave up after 10 minutes. Never looked @ it, but my new tabs are always blank. Can't figure out what i did. It must be somewhere in my main profile map.
Its not opera. Meh.
And not chinopera, the old OLD opera. 2010 and back. With opera turbo and the webserver self hosting before they made it chrome woth a different skin.
Something I did back in April...
