I bought a MSI M.2 XPANDER-Z Gen 4 PCIe Expansion Card off ebay for $41. There were prob better deals to be had. Was looking to throw it in to a z590 board but there was some wear.
The seller comments state:
“Still in original anti-static bag as part of larger motherboard accessories bundle. Seal never broken, card never used.”
The card was used and there is corrosion or some sort of damage on the slot pads (?) - I’ve looked at a number of pcie cards I’ve owned and have bought used. None of them had this.
The height slot was twisted and warped on arrival
The DIP headers(?its what they are labeled?) are bent from their manufactured position
a) Included a watermarked picture of how the pins should look
Am I being too ana! here or should I be concerned. Mostly about the pad…alc swap and q-tip were not able to remove spots.
My two cents, or one cent, is to just deal with it, and keep it if it functions reliably. This way, you don’t have to visit a website, create a message or email, wait for a response, read that response if you get one, follow up on that response and go back and forth. Then if you get the “return” response, package it back up and go through the effort of downloading / creating a shipping label, printing that, taking it to the post office, and have them tape it up for you, and spend $17-20 to send it to the address, and maybe get a partial, but not full refund.
To hell with all that, just keep it and if it works it works.
If the condition of the item was not accurately described in the listing, eBay will make the seller pay return shipping and you will be refunded in full, including any taxes paid. Just be sure you select “arrived damaged” or “doesn’t match description or photos” as the reason for your return.
In your situation though, frankly I’d just straighten the bent pins and bracket.
Just to add, the seller accepted the return and provided a shipping slip. So the ball is in my court whether or not I decide to keep given the circumstances.
