hi, I am planning on finally upgrading to a new phone before the end of the year.I currently have the galaxy prevail :(.I have been waiting for the s3 for a long time.I have also noticed the new lg that also came out.just want to know what your recommendations are.I use the video and audio features the most.I know both will be eons faster than the prevail.thanks in advance
I'm leaning towards the LG Optimus F7. About the only differences I see are in RAM, Screen, and battery. They have the exacty same CPU/GPU/SoC, which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 (1.5GHz dual-core Krait), and both support LTE.
The F7 only has 1GB of RAM vs the S3's 2GB. On my Note II, I'm typically using around 700MB, unless I'm doing desktop web-browsing. The F7 has an IPS 720p display, which is good for accurate colors, and crisp images overall. The S3 uses a Pentile Super AMOLED 720p. What I really like a Super AMOLED screens are the colors are really bright and punchy, though not necessarily accurate. I believe there is a black clipping issue as well (instead of displaying dark colors, it will display black). Also, due to the RGBG Pentile sub-pixel arrangement, the image wouldn't wouldn't be as clear compared to RGP stripe, such as in the IPS displays. If you're really into video, the F7 has the advantage here.
Last is the battery life. The LG F7 sports a 2540mAh battery, and is rated for 13 hours talk time. The S3 on the other hand sports a smaller 2100mAh battery only rated for 9 hours.
One of things I'd like to bring, which annoys the ever living hell out of me, is the method of USB syncing. The Galaxy S line up uses MTP (Media Transfer Protocol), which is essientially a DRM protocol. It's slow and doesn't work well outside of Windows. Actually, it doesn't work well at all, but works even less so outside of Windows.
The last trick I want to bring up is Rooting. The Galaxy S3 has a lot of support for rooting and all the goodies that come with it. The F7, not so much. If you have no plans on rooting, well, the lack of support for the F7 is a non-issue.
Again, with the $100 lower price, and ups the S3 in picture quality and battery life, I'd say it's the better deal here.
thanks i already purchased the s3
