Book Recommendations

In The Tek that was filmed at Quake-Con, @DeusQain mentioned the book The Moon is a Harsh Mistress of which I am currently listening. This isn't the first time he has referenced some books and I would love to see either a post on here or an Inbox.exe where he lists out a few books that he likes beyond the three listed on his profile. I have really been getting into audiobooks recently as they allow me to "read" books while I am at work.

I always suggest Heinlein, or Asimov. Gibson is also good. (neuromancer)

I finally understand why 1984 was required reading.

I'll see what else I can think of, as I'm currently in an UBER on my ride into work.

I've finished The Moon is a Harsh Mistress and it was really good, better than I expected. The Professor certainly matches my political ideals.

I have downloaded the three books in the Neuromancer series, again as unabridged audio books. I much prefer having a physical book in my hand, but I can listen to audio books all day long and can't read while working so I end up choosing the medium that fits my life better.

It did occur to me though that I have failed to ever read 1984. It has always been on my list, it just was never convenient as I already had a backlog of books. I think I'll finish the Neuromancer series and then find a tech related book to break up the genre and finally sit down to 1984.

I really appreciate the tips as I have always had issues finding good books as I used to have CBA syndrome and hated spending money on bad books. I historically read mostly in the epic fantasy genre but have been trying to expand into more types of fiction as well as non fiction. I've always loved how much information is out there. It's just a shame how little time we have to try and learn it all.

for more of a conceptual as opposed to theoretical etc and a fun tame read richard f hamilton is always interesting... find his idea of tech to be interesting combined with boyish optimism :P

I don't really know what book genre you prefer to read from, but I do know that Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk is a really interesting, and slightly disturbing, book. I had actually recommended it to @SoulFallen and he absolutely loved it. I also read A Million Little Pieces by James Frey which is a book generally based on his life struggle of dealing with his addiction, and I thought that was a pretty good book as well. Hope this helped in some way :)

Survivor is my favorite book by Chuck. Used to read it on long flights back and fourth from Alaska to Florida.
