Blue dots-artifacts?

Hey guys,

So I just completed updating my build-including my gpu in w/c loop and adding another radiator.

I mounted the gpu waterblock myself.

I booted the system and I have small blue dots around the edge of something-for example if I had a tree by itself with a black background as my background the blue dots would be around the edge of the tree and no where else.

This also happens in games (I tried Bioshock Infinite to try this) but not all the time sometimes it will not appear for about 5 seconds then reappear.

And in benchmarks-I done this on Valley and Heaven.

But in the Valley/Heaven it only does it at the end of a 'scene' not continuously.

Are these artifacts and if so how can I get rid of them?

My original thoughts was that the waterblock is on too tight?

And my temps throughout tests never went over 47C.

Thanks,

Ben.

Sounds like something software related. Have you messed with any of the nVidia settings?

Its a HD7970 Asus DCii, but i got this waterblock- http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007S3VTHA/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and as far as I know I havent messed around with any-I also have the latest drivers-14.4.

dial back the memory clock a little and re-test

I run it at stock clocks when at desktop/browsing, should it be doing this at stock!?

I will still try this now!

No difference, still blue dots!

In that case; perhaps try using older, more stable drivers that aren't in beta. Then check again. If you still see blue dots, then it is more than likely an issue with the card itself.

I cant find any 14.3 drivers for download anywhere, a link would be much appreciated!

Goto the Amd site itself

14.4 has just been released and i cant find the 14.3 on their site. And i've just found one else where, lets hope it works...

Use 14.4, just not the beta version. I'm not sure AMD keep documented older driver versions.

Beta drivers are a work in process, so 14.4 is 14.3 plus bug fixes and driver improvements. Should you still have issues you can always default to the latest stable driver version instead.

Ok, I still have issues, im going to try a couple of different DVI cables too, just to make sure!

The original cable was dual link DVI in the dual link DVI port on the GPU to a 144hertz monitor.

In the same DVI port i put a 'single link' DVI cable and lowered the hertz to 60 (otherwise it was fuzzy(due to the cable not being able to do 144hertz)).

And there is no blue dots at all, would this mean it was the cable?

Cables can cause some strange issues. If thats the case , easy cheap fix. Right now i am having issues with my display port cables not wanting to maintain connections. Gold plated connections are a thorn in my side. My cheap ones work just fine.

Yeah, very strange how it can take a 'clean' frame and produce it on the screen as it did!

I'll probably just go to my local PC store and pick up a new dual link DVI cable tomorrow. Then hopefully this upgrade/renew will finally be complete!
