In the midst of the steadily declining subscriptions (bringing sub levels down to those not seen since 2006) and the resulting press, Blizzard just announced the new WoW expansion
In the past, expansion launches have boosted WoW subscriptions as older players return to check out new content and marketing campaigns bring in new players. Do you think WoD was the final nail in the coffin and that subscription levels will continue declining or do you think the new Legion expansion will bring another boost in subs? Does anyone in the Tek community still play WoW?
I think WoW will always have a bitter sweet spot in the hearts of many a pc gamer, but I don't see myself returning for this expansion. I gave WoD a shot, and couldn't finish it. The community simply isn't there anymore. I would return if my guild or a like minded guild did tho.
100% right there with you on this. Vanilla WoW was the best MMO experience I had. It was a perfect storm for me. Wonderful guild, met lots of people and we were successful. BC was the same but not quite as awesome as Vanilla. I tried MoP and the spark wasn't there for me. This looks fun but I'm not coming back. I hope people enjoy it though!
I'm with @rodolom with the whole bitter sweet thing. However, I do not think I will ever return to wow. I too came back for what ever the last xpack was but quickly ended again before even getting into the raiding content, i think it had to do with the fact that it was... owh we released a boss or two at a time...k we beat these withing the first attempts now wtf do we do.. owh we have to wait till they release the next few bosses.
I have always liked wow but I just cant see paying 15$ a month again for the same "sit in goldshire" experience. They took away the major plus to finally getting higher level flying. this really put me off to the game. having to spend an extra 20 minutes running around the fucking mountain trying to collect herbs or w/e when you could just fly over it before... for questing it sucked but was okay... for farming for gold fucking stupid. also I liked flying i enjoyed the ability to see the world in flight.
Also with how easy it is to get a group i think raid lockouts need to be altered, you can just start a group and do all the raids in one night and then logout till the next unlock time... this really puts it into perspective paying 15$ for 4 nights of playtime.
I'm so tired of leveling that it started to become yay i finally have a max level time to raid....k done whelp guess i wait till next week for the unlocks.
Same here. And the worst thing about Goldshire were the Murlocs near the lake behind the inn. That sound still gives me nightmares.
I still would play if I could find a good Vanilla server that has a decent amount of players and none of that x2 items and skill / x15 XP / instant lvl 60 / pick your gear stupidity. I miss the hard work getting to lvl 60, the struggle to earn enough gold so you could purchase that first mount at lvl 40 (make that 50 if you didn't know anyone who could lend you half of the gold you needed), the fact that hitting the level cap was enough to make people respect you because so few managed to do it. It really was a different game back then.
@anon37371794 yep i never played vanilla or bc but i was so pissed when i payed i think it was 5k gold for flying then like a month later a patch dropped it to 1k and now it's like what 100g. I was just like really, all that work and now it's just hanned out
