Blackout R9 290 Tri X

Its Black. Long. Heavy. Cool. Powerful.

The R9 290 is a beast alone , with a good cooler it gets even better , but most coolers are aesthetically unpleasing , today I took the sapphire Tri X cooler and made it better.

The basic tri X is black and yellow , not that I don't like yellow , but I prefer black and white :p

I took the plastic yellow frame and painted it matte black to match the rest of my PC , I'l probably finish adding some white accents , but for the moment this is it .

Tell me if you want some tutorials and the like for things like this !

Now I had an idea :

If I was to be "comunity" funded for doing mods , eg : people donate a certain amount , with the money collected I buy something , take input on what to do with it , make a tutorial of the process and the give it away to one of the donators.

For example : 32 people give me 12€ , I buy a trix R9 290 with that , paint it the colour that you vote ( black and white , green and purple , yellow and pink :p ) .

I do a random draw , and I send the card , painted , to the winner .

Would you donate ? Would you want to vote ? http://strawpoll.me/2399238

Do you want this card ? http://strawpoll.me/2399256 Would you want me to give it awway ?

There is a bunch of work I need to do , notably getting my picture booth set up with proper lights .

If i Sent you a Corsair 200R front Panel, Would you do a mod for it. For your own bemusement and send it back. I want to do it myself but i have no time being a working Student. Would be cool, i bet a lot of 200R owners would like to see a Mod for there case that could be done pretty easily.

The problem is that I'm in the EU :|

A windowed Corsair 200R seems easy enough , just need to brush up on my aluminium cutting skills .

I was thinking of something like that , A tinted glass side panel for my H440 ; might do that instead.

looks great man, how does it look in the system?

Tangent Time! [I'm really bored and looked at picture metadata] D3100, not bad Still a DLSR

Try getting more light into the area, you're shooting at a high ISO and at f3.5 (i'm assuming kit lense) also try a longer focal length, it will change the perspective of the picture to be more pleasing, 18mm (27 full frame equiv) is too wide honeslty. This will also stop down your aperture and more light is needed. (if you're using kit lens)

Hell' if you have a tasteful wooden deck you could shoot outside. where it's plenty bright.

Something like this ? http://www.overclock.net/t/1401429/corsair-200r-case-window-mod

it was raining today -> bad light

I'l post some better pics tomorrow , thanks for the advice :D

-Edit : A bud is gonna drop me off his 3100's lens and camera , he isn't using it .

Hopefully can get it working

Got an opinion ?

My system is in no state to be photographed xD

I'l make a video ( maybe ) or a few photos when the boxes arrive.

Other, Black ~ Blue!

Hmmm It seems there are already a few parts in black and blue =D

I don't think I mentioned it , but I'm color blind , witch is why I like black and white xD

My 3D printer was "stolen"  a few days ago so I'l have to wait until end of September to get it back :|

I'l see when I get it back if I can make some custom shrouds for gpu's ( my friend suggested this )

Aye there are a lot of black and blue already I just couldn't resist.. no self control.

If I did ever do a complete custom case mod though I would probably go with your black ~ white scheme and do a start wars themed clone trooper case mod.

btw the fan shroud looks great, kind of like a sand blasted finish!

Yeah

I I had waited , I would have got the black / red H440 instead of the white ; and painted the black into white and added a decal / paint job on the panels .

Anybody wanna trade ? :p

What clocks are you running and how hot is it? I'll be in the market for a 290 in two weeks and this is an option.

Looking at your profile :

DON'T BUY THE DCU II please !

http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/2828s7/which_r9_290_has_the_best_coolers_on_it/

Nobody mentioned it yet, so I will.

The Asus DirectCU II cooler was not made for AMD cards.

AMD chips are physically smaller than Nvidia chips, which is why a DirectCU II cooler taken off of a AMD card looks like this:
http://media.bestofmicro.com/AMD-Radeon-R9-290X,X-W-415940-22.jpg

The white part is where the AMD chip was. The heatplate is simply too large for it.

Hence the DirectCU II cooler does its job fine. But only merely fine. Its not a good or a great cooler and shouldnt be included in such a list.

Hehe I'm gonna watch you go wild over the over exposure and shutter time.

I had about 2 minutes to shoot , it started raining literally at the same time :(

The tri X is amazing , if you can afford it the vapor X is the best.

I set my own fan curve to keep it quiet , maxes out around 70°c in bf4.

Stock comes with 1ghz on the core , 1300 mhz on the memory , I was not so interested in oc'ing , so I bumped the core V down by -6 ( on afterburner don't know if that is .06 or .6 ) and set the mem to 1350 and core to 1050.

Works like a charm. Gonna be getting a second one soon too , maxes out any game at 1080p perfectly 60fps.

PS. with stock voltages , the temps max to 72°c , but makes a bit more noise.

Black blue again. Something like this:

Most beautiful case in the world.

Its Black. Long. Heavy. Cool. Powerful.

That's what she said?

Looks pretty cool, maybe black out the center piece of the fans as well?

Yeah thats cool but i meant the Front plastic Bezel, it has Shite airflow.
