I've built a new computer for my mate's brother and for the last month or so it has been running fine, but last night he brought it back so i could put in more fans.
But when we tried to boot up again in would get to the point where it has the windows loading icon but then it stops outputting a video after that, i have tried from both the video card and onboard video but nothing is outputting a signal.
I can enter windows from safe mode and from there i have reinstalled windows because i thought something may have corrupted somehow but its having the same issues. Although when i do load into safe mode it does hang for a while on loading the driver CLASSPNP.sys
Any help would be most appreciated because i cant figure this out myself.
Check that everything (ram, hdds, gpu etc) is seated correctly - maybe something became dislodged whilst you where installing the new fans.
Perhaps a small part of your install was corrupted. So if you want you can try and rename the classpnp via the cmd prompt. Just get go to the recovery mode and select command prompt and type
rename c:\windows\system32\drivers\classpnp.sys classpnp.old
Then grab a new classpnp system file via the internet.
If that doesnt work post back.
i just went over everything and all is installed correctly.
I guessed that it may have been corrupted thats why i did the fresh install of windows so all the drivers are working but it still black screens same as before.
everything is stock standard and yet it still has the same issue.
What are the exact specs of his machine?
its got a intel 4670K with a corsair hydro 110,geforce gtx760, Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H Motherboard and 8GB of Corsair vengence ram. its also got a soundcard and wireless network card
There are a few avenues to explore.
>Linux distro off usb or dvd and test for system faults outside a windows environment
>Remove the motherboard from the case, use just 1 stick of ram, no gpu (just use the onboard igpu), hdd and a keyboard & mouse. See if system will boot to windows.
When you re-installed Windows did you have multiple drives installed or just the primary drive?
I will try booting like that first thing in the morning, that may sound plausible because the power supply is a xigmatek one with multiple rails into the fan I installed had to be powered by a molex plug directly from the power supply so maybe I that's just the tipping point for overloading that individual power rail.
Qhen I did reinstall windows I had the SSD (which was the C drive) and a harddisc plugged in.
Aorry for sleep late replies, I work as a chef so my personal times are few and far between on work days.
Just make sure the gpu is getting power from 2 rails as well if possible.
The power supply doesnt specify which outputs run on which rails but the computer doesnt power up at all now. im kinda over stressing about it and may just take it into some place to get a professional to look over it.
I do really appreciate your help though, thanks.
