Black screen when first launch up games after a loginn

Each time after i loginn to windows and i launch a game it black screens after loading a level. Then i have to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete (because i can't exit the black screen normally), open the Task Manager, press end task, it says "program not responding" and then windows closes it. Sometimes other programs stop working too. I started getting this problem after i got a new monitor. A few times i can see a little notification in the bottom right corner that says "NVIDIA settings had stop working and has recovered". I think there is something wrong in the settings that i accidentally changed after i got a that new monitor.

EDIT: I am running w7

EDIT: it is not nvidia settings that crashes, it is LiveKernelEvent. i think it prevents me from playing games when my card is overclocked. Because after LiveKernelEvent crashes everything works fine.

Maybe reinstall the graphics drivers so you start of with the default settings, also check your temps. While I have an AMD card when things got to hot I got the same notification.

specs would help...

 

cards switching of? or drivers quitting?.

maybe wrong drivers or unstable gfx.

i am a bit of a PC noob and i dont know how i reinstall drivers. i know it is not the temps, my gpu rarely goes over 70 c

i am using ASUS gpu tweak to overclock and monitor my card. i found out that if i dont overclock my card then games won't crach.

Is there any other programs i can use to monitor and overclock my card with?

I dont know what drivers i should have or how to update them, i just put in the disks from my gpu and motherboard and installed what i needed.
