Black screen on Windows 8.1 login

So I'm having an issue with a laptop I just bought on Friday. Every time I log in right after I enter my password the screen flashes black for a little less than a second and then shows the loading screen. I just installed an SSD in it but I doubt that its the issue since I had the same issue with the HDD that was in it when I got it. So I'm wondering is this just a Windows 8 thing or is this problem with a driver or the laptop itself? Any insight is appreciated.

Did you turn it on and off? Did you wait a while? more info please

If its the windows sign and a little loading circle underneath then you just have to wait

Yeah I have rebooted this computer many times and it does it every time. The issue isn't the loading screen itself, its that the screen blinks black every time I enter my password. I don't really know if there is any easier way to explain other than, I enter my password then the loading screen comes up for about a second and then the screen goes black for just a little under a second before it shows the loading screen again. Does it every single time.

My brother has a desktop with 8.1 as well and I saw him sign into this account and it doesn't do that.

Try going into the OS through safe-mode and see if it does it still. If it doesn't, you might have a driver issue. If it does, you have an installation issue and you'll either A) need to do a repair or B) reinstall Windows.

If you can get into the OS through safe-mode, I would create another account on the OS and try to log-in to the machine the regular way with the new account  If you can't get in still, it rules-out a corrupt profile.

If there is encryption software installed on the machine, you may be experiencing an issue with it. I see these types of symptoms on machines where you would login to a user account that hasn't been registered with the encryption software yet.

I hope you have a recovery DVD as it honestly sounds like a bad install.
