Hey everyone. So I built my PC a few months ago (specs at the bottom), and just recently I started having issues. Here's what I know so far:
- While gaming, the card never crashes.
- While idling on the desktop (doing nothing, surfing Facebook or Youtube, listening to music, etc.) the card crashes quite frequently. The screen will go to black and audio will loop for a few seconds before cutting off all together. The monitor is still powered on and says it is receiving a signal, but all I see is black.
- I have tried disabling ULPS (heard it could help) and a few other settings, but nothing has worked.
- CTRL+ALT+DELETE does nothing, my only option is to hit the reset button on my PC.
It's safe to rule out my power supply, right? Since the issue only happens while idling. I am just very confused because this card has all great reviews on Newegg - unless I got extremely unlucky. <- Which wouldn't surprise me, I have the worst luck out of anyone I know.
Specs:
ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0
AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0GHz
Sapphire Vapor-X R9 290 OC Edition
Antec HCG-850M
8GB G.Skill DDR3 1866
Mushkin Chronos 120GB
Western Digital Black 1TB
Any help would be appreciated :) I'm about 90% sure it's the video card if I go with my gut, but I just want to be sure before I spend time RMA-ing it.
