Pantheon-I: Worlds I Create is one of the best symphonic black metal CD's to date. I immediately liked it better than Abigail Williams. It sounds a bit more dynamic, raw, and dark.
Here are some samples [WARNING: Anti-Christian lyrics and partial nudity]
this one is kinda evil...
They have a girl playing the Cello and it sounds amazing mixed in with the evil riffing. Let me know what you guys think about them... they have been my most played band this week.
Oh, for the record, I am not anti-christian... I am anti mind control/ anti-religion.
sorry to get off topic here, and i dont mean to start a religious debate, but ive become really bored with "anti-christian" lyrics. its like how power metal bands all sing about slaying the dragon or some other bland uncreative medieval fantasy stuff.
bands need to stop trying to milk a certain fad. noone thinks "anti-christian" lyrics are edgy anymore. if a band is truly anti religion then lets see them write an anti muslim or anti jewish song... but they dont have the balls to do that so they just pick on the christians because theyre too passive to really do anything back. its an easy target and angsty teens whos parents made them go to church will buy it up.
EDIT: and im not an anti-semite or anything, its just that there are other religions out there whove also done their fare share of bullshit. so when all you hear is the same re-hashed anti jesus lyrics over and over its just yawn
Yeah I got that album too, it's insane. Gotta love it.
@ Div; I'm taking a guess here but "most" black metal bands with anti-christian lyrics are from Norway, right? Well why would they do an anti-muslim song or an anti-jewish (well there are already enough of that with NSBM) song? It's neither of these religions that were forced onto them, right? That's just how I see it..
I like the way the band Rotting Christ take with their lyrics tho. Unlike their name make it sound, they are not specifically bashing Christianity but rather every religion out there...
I know a lot of you don't care for Gaahl of Gorgoroth... but his stance is a good one when it comes to the anti-christian lyrics... He is just anti mind control... he wants everyone to be a free thinker and not give in to any or the man made doctrine.  I also agree that the anti-christian thing is way over done... I should put on corpse paint and make a "Leave Jesus Alone" video... lol... I listen to christian metal as well. I am pretty open minded about it all. They can sing about whatever they want to but both extremes seem to have narrow-minded perspectives.Â
I'm right there with you man. Sakis from Rotting Christ has a pretty similar stance on religions.
Quote from him (this was in regard to Dave Mustain refusing to play a show with them because of the band's name and ideologies); "This is a well-organized trick in order to control society, so when I see someone that's very much Christian, that's full of the system, I feel very sorry for him because he's not free."
Great (un)black metal band all you guys on here should look into btw, they need more recognition! This is one of my favorite black metal band: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fQNdrCwOMY
Antestor is pretty damn freaking amazingly solid in the unblack metal scene, tho I am sure you guys know them.
Either way, when I'm looking for good lyrics, I'm definitively not listening to black metal... :P
wait... I don't agree with the lyrics thing... almost all my favorite lyrics are from black metal bands... just not the christian hating lyrics... mork gryning has amazing lyrics, rotting christ does, and a lot of the bands that sing about nature (usually the folk black metal bands and such) have great lyrics... there are always good and bad elements of a genre.
Woah! Don't get me wrong. Mork Gryning, Rotting Christ, Windir, Thyrfing, Woods of Ypres (new album is complete, gonna come out in a few months), Irrbloss, Cryptic Moonlight, Ulver. These are the kind of lyrics I like in Black Metal. I was speaking about anti-christian/christian/satanic black metal in general, since that's what we were talking about in that thread. Generally speaking, when I want some lyrics that I like, and can relate too the most, I'll listen to doom metal, some good melodic death/doom metal (ala Insomnium, their lyrics are some of my favorite ever)...or Agalloch, I LOVE their lyrical theme, it's just so damn good...most bands with a similar theme are black metal (WoY is one of them).
