Bitcoin-QT Problems

Hi guys,

I recently tried to set up a bitcoin wallet using Bitcoin QT, after everything had synced up it was using about 90% of my CPU (Specs below) after this and trying to do basic tasks it took over and nothing at all would work, I decided to uninstall but now my computer is still ridiculously slow, even firefox can't open a new tab without dying.

Does anyone have any idea why this could have happend?

Thanks

That's really weird, i haven't heard of that happening to anyone else. I highly doubt that it was bitcoin-qt.

You probably have some sort of virus or something. Run a full computer scan and see if that shows anything. Also, upload a photo of your 'processes' tab in task mamager because often there's a weird program or something that just lurks in the background gobbling up your cpu power.

I was very skeptical of it being Bitcoin-qt too, Ive checked the process tab and there is nothing in there using up CPU or memory.

It happened exactly after I installed Bitcoin QT and I've not done anything else that could cause this.

Are there any programs you suggest for completing a scan?

Edit: spelling

Try avg first i guess. I'm assuming you've tried rebooting.

Also try clearing the CMOS. That should fix the problem if it is software problem with the cpu or motherboard drivers.

Thanks for the help. Will give it a go and see what I can find.

Ran a full system scan using AVG, nothing there to report. when I'm doing nothing its fine but when I click anything it dies. I've ordered a new 1TB external drive so I'm going to back up and reinstall windows. Thanks again for contributing.

Delete the Appdata folder for bitcoin and the bitcoin wallet and see if that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion but I uninstalled the program and it seems to have taken everyfile with it to the grave. Any ideas if their under any name I might miss?

My main computer's motherboard has been RMA so as of right now I'm on my linux laptop. Try googleing it and try to see what it tells you.

I've googled this problem to death, I wouldn't normally ask this sort of question on the forum but I've yet to find anyone with a similar problem. The only problems arising seem to be for linux which isnt helpful as I installed it on my win 7 comp.

Thanks anyway.

Try clearing the Cmos if you havent already. That might fix some weird stuff.

Thanks Dr.Jetix, I had missed deleting the appdata as I looked in the wrong place, it was about 8gb and I've taken that away and ran my BIOS updater as this should replace any old faults with the board. I will update when I have the chance. Lets hope this fixes it!
