Bitcoin Mining on Mac

I've got a mid 2012 Macbook Pro that my school gave me. These are the general specs:

Processor  2.6 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB

Software  OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)

I've downloaded Bitcoin-QT, what do I do next?

post this in the main thread

Or should I not burn out my pretty new mac which is the most important asset to my future career as a game enviroment artist?

Id est, what should I get to be most profitable with bitcoin mining on your average college kid budget? (If I do get it working well, I'll donate 20% of everything I make to the Tek!)

p.s. I love you Logan, Wendel, and Pistol!

oh ok. I'm new here

I'm not sure how well mining works on mac OS, but just be careful you don't overheat that thing. mining can cause some serious damage.

any other questios rytak can answer.

Bitcoin-QT is only a bitcion wallet as far as I can see, try using Diablo https://github.com/Diablo-D3/DiabloMiner

**Make sure you read the README **

It would not be profitable to mine with nivida cards it would take you at least 2 months running that thing 24/7 to get one bitcoin even on high end amd cards it would take at least 3 weeks running 24/7 to get a bitcoin.

Nvidia cards dont perform well at bitcion mining.....

They are running a tek syndicate "pool" on BTCGuild mining pool, last I looked it was going at over a 8.154GH/s (so thats around 3.7BTC per week or $880)
