Bitcoin as a Christmas Gift?

1. How could I give Bitcoins to my family/parents as a Christmas gift, who know nothing of bitcoin?

2. How could I give it to them and a way that also introduces them to bitcoins?

don't. they wont understand it XD

madness......!

I gave my bro 5 bitcoin last christmas. 100 bucks or so. Now it is over 2grand.

It is worth it.

As far as 1: Tell them how this is something you know they will appreciate in a few years. Even if they don't understand it, they need to have it. Tell them that by learning about this it can help them in the future.

The way I explain bitcoin: It is an online ledger that is impervious to being faked. This ledger is called the "blockchain", and explain how transactions work, explaining public and private address as physical PO boxes.

The private key system is just like their ownership of property. Their property possession is proved to belong to them due to their SSN, and the Property possession document is like your bitcoin, and the SSN is like your private key. The public key is your P.O. Box, which is what people see as the address the bitcoin are currently at, but without the SSN to prove ownership, aka the private key no one can access them.

Show them how to operate Armory, and save their password in a few spots, make a paperwallet, and do that sort of thing. But make sure they understand bitcoin

it isn't hard. I taught my grandfather who was stationed in Japan during WW2 about bitcoin. he now understands it, also. :)

i was going to say give the one of those fake "bit coins", and then i found out they're real

something to consider https://www.casascius.com/

If those get stolen or burned down, you're fucked.

Be careful with physical storage like that.

between kicking myself when i seen the massive jump for not investing the last time it plumetted and how absolutly awesome those look i think i'm going to get some when it drops

Thing it is it most likely is not going to drop. Buy some every few days at worst case scenario. You won't have as many coins, but bitcoin is worth more than 10grand for a single coin... Don't be overtly greedy.. Just some advice..

I wish you luck, though. This price is due to the fact not many miners are making many bitcoin, and china is getting in on it

Do you realize this has a chance of REPLACING the housing bubble in china?

The housing bubble in china has led to entire ghost towns... This might continue going up. Honestly.
