Biostar n68s3+ repair

As soon as possible I am going to repair a motherboard i have sitting around.  When it is plugged in and  the powerswitch is hit nothing happens. tested with good cpu, ram etc. No capacitors are blown and its rumored have died via lightning. The first thing I plan to do is make a new powerswitch by jumping the green and black psu wire via soldering a 2 pin switch header. If that does not work ill look into replacing some components. Any suggestions as to what might be damaged?

Look for any distortion of the pcb layers where the copper/gold circuitry within could have shorted out and broken.  There may be a very very small distortion in the surface or slight discolouration.  If this has happened its not going to get fixed.  Also swap out the cmos battery for a new one.

Not all damage may be visible.  Best to power on, and follow the circuit with a multimeter or test light to find where the circuit is broken.
