Hello I have watched the Cheap Ass Gaming Rig video (http://teksyndicate.com/videos/build-best-cheap-ass-gaming-rig-nov-dec-2012) and I was wondering, I have a BIOSTAR A880GZ Motherboard and could I be able to do something like that with this motherboard? My main goal is to play DayZ Consistently on the Lowest Settings at 20 FPS (or more) For less than $400. My cap is about $450, but if you guys could stay around the $200-350 range (I have to buy a new Windows 7 Home Premium OS disc and they don't come cheap). So if you guys could pick out some parts it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.
Saltiren very much possible, i managed to scrunge up a $350 system using your board that will max out DayZ mod. Here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tRar
It is a 965Be with a HD7850, 4gb of ram and 160gb hard drive(sacrifices had to be made to meet the goal) with a CX430V2 psu and a 212 EVO cooler for proper cooling and OC(i would not recomend OC on this power supply, 28amp 12v rail is really not a lot for a 400+ but for $25 it is a steal)
Here is DayZ mod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLVCY8CKwNQ
Here is what the 7850 can do in other games:http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/549
One thing i noticed is i do not see the specific 965BE in the cpu support list, or maybe this Jack is clouding my vision. Here is a link t the motherboard manufacturer, could someone go over the list and make sure it is all kosher: http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=555#dl
The thing is, I have to spend about $100 for my OS and you didn't include a case, and I am going to try and use a stock fan because I plan not to OC my pc, So it's a little high for me. Also, I am looking at 6-8 GB of Ram. Thanks anyway, though.
Just chuck an AM3+ hex-core in there, a 7770 and some DDR3 at 1600MHz and get the case that Logan recommended. Then, you are free to play.
I still have to buy a PSU, OS, and Storage. I understand if I built logan's build it would actually be about $350 because of the OS, but I want to do something like that for this motherboard. Thanks anyway.
