Bios flashback for ASUS Maximus VI Formula

Hi, I have a Brand new Asus Max. VI Formula motherboard, I want to do a Bios flashback, and  then check all my new components ,CPU, GPU, Ram, HDD, SSD before installing in my case .

For the Bios flashback . As I understand it I don't need my components installed ?  However if I have my CPU, GPU and Ram, HDD,SSD already installed and don't power up the board is that ok,  or do I need to remove them?

Is this also the correct procedure  first Flashback and then check my components , or vice versa ?

I have also an External Optical drive, but as its USB I guess I can connect that later.

To check my components I will need to set up a Monitor, Keyboard, is there anything else I am forgetting ?

With the Monitor,  do I need to connect to the IO panel or GPU?

On the Asus support site / downloads & tools you have to choose first your OS, at this point I have no OS and have not yet decided between Windows 7- 64bit or windows 8. But there is a Dos version, would that be OK , until I make my choice between 7,& 8 ? Or must I choose before?

For any help I would be grateful , this is my first build, so this is all new to me, and a lot of you have a lot of experience. So any help or tips would be welcome.

Just in case it helps a list of my components to date:

it should power up fine without a BIOS flashback... from there it's REALLY easy to just install AI Suite II, download the BIOS from the internet, and update through Windows... yes, you can USB flash it manually, but there's really no need

And how do you propose I do that with no OS  ?

Didn't catch that in the OP, but you can't use the computer without an OS regardless... so I don't see the rush in flashing BIOS.... and I'd get Windows 7 64-bit...
