BIOS Fan Control

Hello all. I have a question regarding BIOS fan control. I have a ASUS Z87-A and i recently got some noctua fan's to put in the front of my case and on the side. I went into my bios to control them (i was just going to leave them as is but when i started up my PC after putting the fans in they were a bit to loud). I went to the "monitor" section of my bios where the fan control is. How it works in my bios is a minimum temp and a percentage and a maximum temp and a percentage, as shown in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I1b8v3jSZs

The issue im having though is the lowest i can set it to is 60%, any lower and i get "invalid input range", 60% results in the fans running at 1400RPM-1500RPM which is a bit to loud (its also confusing because they are 2000RPM fans so 60% should translate to 1200 RPM).

I tried using AI Suite to lower the fan speed via the fan software in it and i was successful. I was able to lower it to 40% which translated out to 800 RPM, but i would rather have this set via BIOS because i dont particularly like having programs and process's on my computer that arent completly needed.

I have the latest BIOS on my motherboard aswell.

are the fans 3 or 4 pin?

yeah what stone said... If you are using 3 pin fans they are just going to run at 100pct. Depending on the motherboard you should have a 4pin for the cpu and possibly a handful of aux. ones as well. I can't say what your bios is picking up, but I'd cycle through rpm settings to make sure it's actually doing something. If you find they are working correctly but it's still too high then you'll have to abandon that bios controller and use a software one in OS. Monitor your temps of course... that's priority over noise lvl.

As far as the bios goes you can either try to update it to the latest revision through the website support or try to find a custom written one for tuning over-rides (sketchy at best). 40% is low I'll go ahead and mention temps again.

According to the Motherboard specs you should have a total of 5 PWM fan headers including CPU and CPU opt. If you got the PWM Noctua fans then you can set the Control Mode from DC to PWM to get a more accurate control over the fan curve (10%-100%).

they are 4 pin

I cant find any option in my bios for control mode
