Hey guys
I was trying to help someone online with his LoL FPS. He pasted his Dxdiag info, and I noticed this(He has an Asus M5A97 Evo):
BIOS: BIOS Date: 10/20/10 09:47:36 Ver: 08.00.10
He assured me that he had the latest Bios, but that's a really old date. Am I missing something here? Or is there a BIOS problem?
(Other System specs: FX-8150, HD7970, 900w Antec HGC PSU.)
That seems about right. AMD 970 chipset, so that's a modern chipset, and AMD sticks to its features, so there isn't really a need for a more recent BIOS. Other than that, Asus is also notorious for not supplying BIOS updates, but in this case it's not important. On AMD K-series, anything after 2009 is a good BIOS, because they've been implementing the Opteron Gen3 standard for everything since about 2009 or so, and it just always works just fine.
The newest bios version for that board is the version 2005
