Audio Technica ATH-M50X

i like the 3 extra cables .
but would they fit as good as the DT 990 Pro and would they sound as good

€ 159,-

Im going to use my headphone for

Listening music with my sound card and on my mobile
Wachting movie's with my sound card and on my tablet ( ipad mini )

which one would you go with ?

Thnx .

Depends. Do you prefer a more "fun" (bassy) or "analytical" (flat) sound? I personally would go the beyerdynamic route, but some people say the dt 990s hit a little too hard on the bass. Another thing that may sway your opinion is that the dt 990s are open-backed while the m50Xs are closed back. This will effect mainly soundstage and maybe comfort (only if you sweat a lot. Breathe-ability and what not). Both are highly praised and I do not think either choice would be bad.

I think for your case is better for you to go for ATH M50x. It is easier to keep it around on the go as compared to DTs.

Neither are flat nor analytical. The DT990 has a huge mid-bass hump, and the M50x has a massive sub-bass hump. The M50x has thin mids and is missing a lot of treble. The DT990 have harsh/peaky treble. Again, neither is flat, analytical (or neutral). I doubt that is what you are going for if those are the ones that you are looking at though.

Since you will be using it on the go, I have to ask, would iems be acceptable? Some people really don't like them, but they are awfully convenient on-the-go. Rockit Sounds makes some really nice iems. The HF5/HF3/HF2 (all sound the same, just with different buttons) are a good choice too.

I would suggest the HP100. Much closer to neutral overall than either of the ones listed, easy as hell to drive (my Clip+ drives mine just fine), sturdy, and folds up real small. I honestly wouldn't imagine anyone wanting to use open or even semi-open headphones on-the-go at all, so I would rule out the DT990 if I were you.

the best way to find out is by testing them.

reviews are really great to show you the quality of Headphones, but the sound itself depends on your preferences. i just ordered the DT 990 pros after i testet them, and i liked them a lot. but a friend of mine didnt.

i tried the m50x and i loved them

so it is the m50x

thnx ,

i agree closed is better for on the go and they aren't that big compared to the dt 990

I'm going with the m50x because i tried them today and i love them .

and i think closed is better when im travelling .
