Better GPU than GTX 980ti for streaming // gaming?

Originally I was planning on using the GTX 980ti in my build, but in hindsight I really don't want to go bigger than a 24' monitor. Although having the option to go 1440p // 4k gaming would be "cool". I don't think running a screen bigger than 24' is ideal for the games I play (Starcraft, cod, fallout, etc). And if you're running a 24' monitor only it doesn't make sense for anything higher than HD.

Any suggestions for what graphic cards would be best for 720p streaming // 1080 HD? I plan one HD 24'. Monitor with high refresh rate (100+) as well as one other 24' monitors with a lower refresh rate.

I would be willing to run multiple gpus in sli if that would be better. My current build idea is as follows: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/W6ncwP

Frankly I'd still stick with the 980 ti. I run a 980 ti on a 144hz 1080p monitor and will be moving to a 1440p 144hz eventually, and its been great so far. You can run super high settings at super high frame rates, and its super smooth. You definitely could run a single Fury or 980, but the 980 ti will last longer in terms of keeping up performance wise in the years to come so thats a positive. The 980 and Fury are both extremely capable cards, and are even overkill for 1080p although you are talking higher refresh rates so I can justify it. The 980 ti will be overkill for 1080p but you can run 1440p or even 2160p later pretty well, where as the 980 and Fury are what I consider somewhat of the minimum for 1440p 60hz and not really capable 4k cards. You can run some stuff on the Fury at 4k but your not going to be absolutely cranking settings.

So rambling aside, 980 ti gives you a ton of overkill performance headroom that does guarantee some longevity out of the card. Fury is the better option out of the $500-ish dollar mark cards, but if you like Nvidia stuff then the 980 isn't a bad option either.

1440p is amazing and a definite step up from 1080. Your monitor is a hugely important part of your build, and if you have the budget to afford a 100+hz 27" with a 980 ti I would wholeheartedly recommend that over 1080p any day of the week.

Really? From the reading I was doing: most people were recommending a 24' monitor for the most ideal gaming set up (most professional level events use 24' monitors).

To my knowledge 1440p only comes on monitors that are larger than 24'. I was a little bit concerned about going that large due to games like starcraft. (I love my rts games :D).

When I stream: the biggest games I will stream are mtgo, fallout, cod/other fps, wow, and and Starcraft. (Mostly Starcraft / mtgo).

If you think a larger monitor wouldn't deter from that.. I'm all for it. Money isn't an issue. I was just concerned 1440 // 25/26 inch monitor was too big for serious gaming.

Not to deter from the gpu topic, but what monitor would you use to support the 680ti then?

That seams pretty strange i game on a 27 inch and I love it. I can see where it might be bad to game on something like a 40 inch a few feet away from your face but moving up to a 27 inch so you can go with a higher resolution isn't a bad thing.

Interesting. Is a single gtx 980ti good enough for 1440p on ultra settings with the higher refresh rate? (

It should be good I have a gtx 970ftw and I get a solid 60 on high to ultra so a 980ti should be able to push past that. Though I will admit it depends on the game as well.

Do you run a 144 ghz refresh rate monitor with 1-2ms?

Want faster monitors for fps :D

And thanks for info all. Very helpful. Going to stick with the 980ti.

If you do eventually go 1440p 144hz I would recommend a second 980ti. You would be able to push high frames in some games that arnt as taxing. But with new AAA games you will have a lot of trouble getting up there in fps.
